A great stay at this characterful hotel. Our room had exposed beams and a four poster bed. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Ayot St Lawrence is an interesting village and our stay quiet and peaceful. Thank you to all at the Brocket Arms.

We decided to spend a night not far fro Stanstead Airport where we were due to meet our son the following day. We searched for B&Bs not far from Stanstead and Hatfield and by pure chance, landed on Brocket Arms. We live in a quiet village in Dorset and wanted the same quiet location even though it was only one... More

We stayed one night here after flying into Heathrow from Spain before heading back up north the next day. The pub took some finding in the lanes round about but once there, we were pleased we’d chosen it as it was peaceful and relaxing. The exterior of the pub and the accommodation are charming and the room had been refurbished... More

We recently went for dinner on a Friday night - we were the only guests in the dining room disappointing as no atmosphere - surprisingly service was slow, food cold and the fish slipped off the plate, the waitress picked it up and put back on the plate and carried on?!!!! The bar area was full of the managements family... More

Stopped for one night whilst working in the area. Staff were very polite and welcoming. Room was really comfortable and the breakfast was just the right amount to start the day. Even got a pint off the owner which is always a nice touch

I stayed at this beautiful traditional ye olde inn on Saturday 26th July. The weather was terrific, the beer garden perfect and the BBQ in the afternoon just topped it all off. My accommodation was excellent - the room nice, cosy, clean and had free WIFI which is always a bonus. The staff were very friendly and nothing was too... More

This place has a beautiful garden, which on a sunny day is great to sit out in. The pub looks ancient, is very traditional and situated in an idyllic setting. One thing we really liked is how friendly everyone was. I have not sat in a pub and chatted to so many strangers ever! Just remember to take your glass... More

We booked a double room which also accommodated our dog, for which we were grateful (room 7 in an annexe) The room was very basic and worn out. Bedding & towels clean, but a bit damp & dingy. The room is between the car park & the beer garden, so very noisy and unfortunately unable to leave any widows open... More
