This place is about people. You can go to all the museums and castles and churches in England, but if you haven't been to the Brocket Arms you'll have missed one of the real treasures of the country. As one of the local patrons said to me, "This is one of the last true British pubs." It's not the history... More

Stayed here for for 2 nights for my 40th birthday. Had a lovely stay in room 1 with the 4 poster bed. Room was nice, full of character. Had food on the Saturday night, which was very nice and plentiful. They don'y do food on a Sunday night so helped us find a good curry which we booked in advance.... More

We stayed a Friday/Saturday weekend break. The Brocket Arms is basically a pub with rooms to let. The staff are very friendly and will do everything to accommodate your needs best they can, but the best point of this beautiful place must be the food. The food is outstanding, well worth London status. The situation of this pub is rural... More

Stayed here the night before a meeting in Wheathampstead. Good food served in the pub and the rooms were clean, well equipped and comfy. My only slight improvement would be to improve the wifi in all areas of the room as it was a bit on and off which when your staying for business isn't ideal. Breakfast the next day... More

We went for a meal and a drink on 2 January 2015. The food was excellent, my wife has a glutton intolerance and the chef and other staff could not have been more helpful, they were more than happy to advise on what she could eat and tailor dishes to her needs. She had a Hake dish and I had... More

A great stay at this characterful hotel. Our room had exposed beams and a four poster bed. The food was excellent and the staff very friendly, helpful and nothing was too much trouble. Ayot St Lawrence is an interesting village and our stay quiet and peaceful. Thank you to all at the Brocket Arms.

We decided to spend a night not far fro Stanstead Airport where we were due to meet our son the following day. We searched for B&Bs not far from Stanstead and Hatfield and by pure chance, landed on Brocket Arms. We live in a quiet village in Dorset and wanted the same quiet location even though it was only one... More

You want historic, you got it. You want peace and quiet, you got it! If you want to step back in time to the Tudor era, this is the place to stay. A beautiful old monk's retreat set in Hertfordshire which has been converted into a pulbic house. It has some lovely little B&B rooms for rent in beautiful peaceful... More

We stayed one night here after flying into Heathrow from Spain before heading back up north the next day. The pub took some finding in the lanes round about but once there, we were pleased we’d chosen it as it was peaceful and relaxing. The exterior of the pub and the accommodation are charming and the room had been refurbished... More

We recently went for dinner on a Friday night - we were the only guests in the dining room disappointing as no atmosphere - surprisingly service was slow, food cold and the fish slipped off the plate, the waitress picked it up and put back on the plate and carried on?!!!! The bar area was full of the managements family... More
