My husband and I, along with two friends, were members of a coach party enjoying an October break in Cheshire, and environs. We all felt that the Britannia Ashley was adequate for our stay, with comfortable (basic) rooms, and quite a good and varied menu for both breakfast and dinner. (Meals were inclusive in our deal.) Whilst we were aware... more

Stayed 4 nights on a bargin room only deal on the 3rd floor. Staff friendly and helpful. Good size double room. No tissues or clock radio in room. Good bathroom including good shower. Clean, although a bit dated and worn in places. Only 5 tv channels which were a bit fuzzy. Lift smelt of disinfectant. Hotel in a very good... more

I wanted to like this hotel as I once lived locally and walked past it most days. Britannia operate some grand buildings; this isn't one of them as it's a 60's box but the mid-village setting is pleasant enough. At the sullen check-in (why do Britannia staff spend so long silently gazing at their computer screen instead of properly welcoming... more

Really worried when I saw some of the reviews for the hotel after we'd booked it. We were in the area for a family birthday 10 mins from the hotel and we booked 5 rooms. Every room was clean, a good size and everything worked. Some of the rooms had 3 beds and one had 2 beds and a bunk... more

Hotel very dificult to find with no roadside signage. Only car park is pay and display. Refused first room because of broken toilet seat. Second room very dated and although requested non smoking was given a smoking room. Could not turn down the heating so ended up like a sauna. The beds were the most uncomfortable we had every slept... more

Was going out for christmas drinks with the girls and booked twin rooms at this hotel rather than bothering with trying to get taxi's home. Got a fantatsic rate, but when i saw the reviews i was a bit worried. Having stayed I'm not sure why everyone has complained so much, we had a great time and were well looked... more

I have previously stayed at this hotel, and was happy with the room then. So, I recommended it to my friend, and we decided to stay overnight and have a meal and a few drinks in the lovely village of Hale. On arrival, we made the mistake of paying upfront for our room. We had requested a twin on the... more

I always use trip advisor, but this was a last minute family thing so i did not, big mistake! We were given the keys to 4 twin rooms in all and felt we had to choose something otherwise we had no place to stay. Problems were, crumbs all over carpets, really dirty & stained eiderdown covers in all rooms, dirty... more

This was the 3rd time we stayed at this hotel, purely for convenience, and each time we stayed here, we had to make complaints about one-thing or another, & each time we found that nothing had been done to correct the problems that we had reported, when we arrived the next time we stayed here. The last episode (after emails... more

I know I know !! - trip advisor contributors said it was rubbish and the web agent said it was good for an overnight stay. So sometimes you can go wrong. I cant really tell you about the service except the sullen receptionist, we were only there for a short time. We did see the room - cramped, dirty, smelly... more
