We stayed here on a 4 night DBB break and it was great, we will definitely return! The food, hotel and staff were all excellent. Dinner was a 6 course taster meal, but the portions were anything but starter size! Ballater is a lovely village with lots of different shops and plenty of walks.

The Ballater Highland Gathering was on and the town was very busy! Nevertheless, the bar was open and service was as good as ever. Food in the restaurant was as delicious as ever...still great fillets, a must have if you visit. The rooms are getting a bit tired, especially the bathrooms but it's still by far the best around. Great... More

We stayed in this hotel one night. The hotel staff was very friendly and the breakfast was also very good. The bedroom are extremely dated ( the beds are clean though). There is mold on windows and the whole hotel smells pretty much a bit funky ( must be the carpet). You hear everything from your room neighbors. First thing... More

I stayed four nights at this very pleasant hotel in the centre of Ballater. My room was spacious and well-appointed. There is a large lounge with comfy armchairs and settees that would be just the job for spending a rainy day relaxing and reading. Breakfast was high-quality from an extensive menu.

Spent a few nights here during Victoria week which is also Games day. The staff from Joanna the manager to the chambermaids were delightful, warm and welcoming. Joanna even offered to refrigerate some food I had brought for use on the field on Games day. The public areas are very nice and the food is lovely. Crerar inns have a... More

Hotel set well to period, lovely bar & lounge. Main walkways & bedroom were tired, decor needs updating & general maintenance required. Our first room the windows were painted shut but the staff kindly moved us to suit. Rooms were clean & linen provided all ok. Staff were friendly and attentive. Breakfast well laid out.

We arrived on Wednesday for a two day stay. We could not have been made more welcome, by the management and staff. Despite the hotel being full, they managed to deliver a level of customer service to us, which was both personl and warm. The food in the hotel was excellent, and makes full use of the local produce. Aside... More

Stayed here for 2 nights with my husband. Booked through Easy Breaks DBB both nights 6 course taster menu with bottle of wine on first night. Menu on the 1st night wasn't to my liking but I am fussy so opted for the Steak, it wasn't an issue and was one of the best steaks I have had. 2nd night... More

We stayed here for one night, courtesy of a lovely virgin experience gift voucher we had received from friends. We were really looking forward to a relaxing break away in what can only be described as the idyllic town of Ballater with its stunning surroundings. However, as soon as we stepped through the door of the hotel we were so... More

This hotel has all the potential In the world. Fantastic location, the bar and lounge could be the high light of Scottish hospitality with just a little work. Sadly this hotel is seriously dated, poorly ran and massively over priced with the which ever group owns it wanting to milk any tourists wanting to visit Balmoral for every penny they... More
