We stayed for a two night break on the DBB special deal which was good value. The staff were generally very good except for an almost 40 minute delay between courses at dinner on our last night I am not sure what the problem was.Our room on the first floor overlooking the street was fine apart from a very small toilet/shower... This exactly how a highland hotel should be. A 3 star place but a 5 star experience. Friendly, helpful staff from reception onwards. The food was excellent as were the public rooms. We thought our room was fine. Clean and comfortable. Breakfast and dinner were varied with a good mix of Scottish and European dishes. We could picture ourselves despite... More

Had a fair deal on DBB for this hotel so I guess not too bad value for money. A lot could be improved though. Room we had was on the second floor with no lift and no offer of help with luggage - we are both OAPs & had to carry all our luggage up ourselves. Also staying on quite... More

We stayed for a couple of nights on a DBB deal. We were a little hesitant because of some of the poor reviews but were pleasantly surprised. The inclusive menu offered a good selection - we had scallops followed by monkfish one night and crab linguine followed by salmon the next. The presentation, quantity and quality of the dishes was... Spent a lovely couple of nights here this week. The hotel is in a great location with plenty parking directly across the road from the hotel. All the staff were really pleasant and cheerful. We were in Room 6 which seemed to be below a member of staff's room. We mentioned that their washing machine was very noisy in the... More

Thank you so much for your lovely review, I am so pleased that you enjoyed your stay. I am very sorry about the washing machine. We have a policy of no washing machines or dryers after 8pm - however, that night a visitor of mine was being "helpful" and when I knew it was too late. We are so pleased... More

We opted for this deal from a range of interesting choices, and were pleased with a well thought-out service and enthusiastic first-hand recommendations, as the manager herself and some of the staff enjoy a swim in the river! The packed lunch was good, and the steak supper was very good! There was a minor issue with the room but it... More

The central location was a deciding factor but we were keen to see if the hotel had improved since our last visit in May 2013 when the new manageress had been in post a couple of months. the staff were very welcoming - nothing was too much trouble The room was large with good storage with a homely décor -rather... We were here just for a meal and did not stay (so can't comment on the rooms). We enjoyed a fantastic Sunday Lunch at the Deeside Inn. The roast beef was superb. Very reasonable and excellent quality. All set in lovely surroundings. It was a great escape from a wet Ballater afternoon. We will definitely be back to sample the... More

Pros: Lovely stagecoach inn in heart of town. Can walk to food, shops and golf. Fine bar and handsome restaurant. Cons: Rooms are tired; no lift; service is erratic but pleasant. A bit hard to find off the town center.

We had a room on the ground floor which was very handy for getting the bags in and out. The room was generally fine, and I don't usually suggest that a room needs updating if it is reasonable. However, this one seemed to suffer from damp and mould, particularly in the bathroom. This is a cold and wet part of... More

Thank you for taking the time to review your recent stay with us. I am very glad that you enjoyed this part of Scotland. Our rooms on the ground floor are very comfortable but, you are right, that those upstairs have been refurbished more recently. We always offer to carry guest's bags though and have lots of young strapping staff... More
