We just returned from an amazing weekend at the Deeside Inn - bed breakfast and evening meals included. Hotel itself is a bit dated however very comfortable and clean. Room was a double on the second floor - stairs were a bit steep but we got there. Room could do with refreshing but everything was there that was needed including... More

Stayed here for 2 night break in August. Room 110 clean warm basic. We had the taster menu both nights which was very nice and staff very efficient and friendly. Went into the bar for a drink on the Friday but was empty and no atmosphere had to go over to the Balmoral bar which was a bit loud and... More

Just stayed for one night and our room and bath were in need of updating. We could not get the wifi connection in our room, so we had to go to the lobby to check email. The lounge and restaurant were beautifully decorated and very cozy.

We had dinner(!) in the restaurant, which was the bar, due to a 'live event' that was taking place, duke someone or other.. We had much discussion, among our party of 4 as to what the 2 sets of prices were, ranging from starter prices, to discount prices, to royal prices to lunch prices. None were vaguely accurate. It seems... More

We didn't have dinner but heard lots of good comments from others. Breakfast was great - fresh fruit salad, finnan haddie, lots of choice! We had a large ground floor family room with no view which was rather over priced at £109. We thought it was more a £90 room really. Having said that, the bed was comfortable and we... More

Our room was clean, bright ,spacious and comfortable with a decent sized en suite. The staff were very efficient, friendly and approachable. We were reminded by the receptionist that we had two free passes to visit Balmoral Castle (thus saving us £22). I genuinely cannot praise the food too highly. The evening dinner was of an excellent standard, and the choice of breakfast... More

I was most sceptical about this hotel, but it is the nicest place ever! The hotel is located on the river, off the main road in a park like area with horses, and rabbits and dogs - out of a picture book! Wonderful for our boy. Tennis facilities behind the house. It seems to be an old private villa with... More

I would be delighted if this review was for us - but sadly with the references to the park and tennis courts it is not us. Best wishes, J Whysall More

My husband and I spent three wonderful days in Ballater and the surrounding area and thoroughly enjoyed our time at The Deeside Inn. While it describes itself as an Inn, it is really a medium sized hotel, which was a lovely surprise. The room was very clean, the en-suite was particularly good even though we only paid for a standard... More

After reading many of the comments on here, you might think the Deeside was the worst hotel in the world. I stayed there for ten days this summer and have nothing bad to say about it. The staff were friendly and helpful, the breakfast excellent and the room clean. The prices may be a bit high, I don't know. (I... More

I have to say that your review troubled me in some ways. We had around 17, 000 guests stay with us last year. TripAdvisor users do not see the hundreds of thank you cards, boxes of chocolates, hugs and kisses we receive from customers who have had enjoyable stays. Happy customers tend to thank us in that way as opposed... More

We stayed for a two night break on the DBB special deal which was good value. The staff were generally very good except for an almost 40 minute delay between courses at dinner on our last night I am not sure what the problem was.Our room on the first floor overlooking the street was fine apart from a very small toilet/shower... Thank you for your review. I am glad you enjoyed the Mae Trio - they are a very talented young women who are fast making a name for themselves on the Australian folk scene. They had also appeared as part of the Commonwealth Games opening ceremony - so were very privileged to have had them here to play. I was... More
