Rooms are huge but oh so very tired looking. Shower varied between freezing and boiling hot (health and safety hazard??). Service was excellent couldn't fault the staff if I tried - but boy does this place need a facelift. Food was very good on our first evening there - served by Lee and Stefan. The staff are very helpful, service was good - again Maureen and Lee have a wealth of local knowledge - we managed to catch a great regatta by the local river thanks to Lee's help. I stayed here because I was attending a relative's wedding so location was key for me, however the rooms were fusty-smelling, cold and had loads of cobwebs. We stayed here on a Sunday night and were two of only about 10 guests. We were told that the hotel's mainstay seems to be catering for weddings, so Friday's and especially Saturdays are apparently very busy. Pretty hotel set in beautiful grounds and with very helpful management and staff. Our room was not beautiful but it was comfortable and spacious. The only caveat is that it's obviously a popular wedding venue and the wedding party was completely dominant on the Friday night and again on the Saturday morning, so not a place for a quiet night... more

I stayed at this hotel whilst on business back in February 2006. Location wise its about a 10 minute drive from Bedford town centre and is set back from the road within its own grounds in a lovely setting. The rooms are extremely large with marble bathroom and they even have a separate sitting area with couch! Breakfast is good... more
