We had a one night stop here in Sept 2015. It was basically check inn 5 mins later out and then back after 10pm so basically bed and breakfast. We had 3 rooms all of which had problems which have since been raised with management who care to ignore. One room had a cold shower and mouldy shower unit, one... More

Although we cannot fault the staff or the food,as we have eaten here on several occasions and had our Christmas party here, the Shakespeare is just beginning to look a little ragged around the edges. It is such a shame...as food, staff and location(5 minute walk to the train station,10 minutes to town centre)are all in its favour.

We had a fabulous night at the hotel again this year. A table of 14 plus 2 babies! The staff couldn't do enough for us. Busy but lovely, disco was perfect my toddler was in his element. Everyone had a top time. One recommendation- increase the wine options.

Stayed for 1 night and found the accommodation to be not to my taste. The single room allocated, poorly decorated and in need of updating somewhat. Continental breakfast consisted of just cereal, no yogurt, breads or fruit.,I upgraded to a double room, very clean, but so in need of modernisation.

Having driven past this hotel thousands of times I finally got the opportunity to go inside, when I was invited to a birthday party. I was expecting a tired interior, but it all looked reasonable, the drinks were not expensive, the buffet provided was good, and overall it was a very enjoyable experience

This hotel i would never ever stay in again. The Hotel needed a lick of paint. The Interior i would give 3 out of 10. The room was small (No25) it was extremely noisey from other guests had to speak to them to keep the noise down at half past midnight with the're Child making more noise. the Reception was... More

We welcome and appreciate all guest feedback. 1) With regards to the reception closing at 22:30, it bears no relation to Fire Safety & Regulations. We always advise our guests upon check-in that dialing '0' from the room or Reception would put our guest in touch with the Night Duty Manager. We have a member of staff onsite 24 hours... More

Having read some of the recent reviews on Trip advisor I was very dubious about what to expect only to be pleasantly surprise. Check was friendly and efficient, the rooms we had, although a little tired, were clean, spacious and comfortable. The staff were friendly and nothing was too much trouble. I would most defiantly recommend this hotel and would... More

Stayed for one night in a single room. I found the single bed was creaky and not very comfortable. I could not fault the service and the prices for evening meals and drinks are excellent The staff are extremely helpful and make your stay very enjoyable. I would recommend staying at the Shakespeare Hotel.

We only stayed here 1 night......thank god!! Where do I start... I've given it 1 star as I couldn't submit it with out it. We stayed in the rooms outside the main hotel. The room door looked out over a private house. We went out for the evening and when we returned it was dark. Going outside to our room... More

On the positive side it was a quick and fuss free check in and lots of friendliness. Breakfast was good and plentiful. However, the room and the bed left a lot to be desired. The bed was a small double bed..too small for two large adults. The mattress was just inches thick and rested on slates and metal bars..ouch. The... More
