This hotel is well located near the station. The reception area is OK, although you never see anyone around. The breakfast isnt anything to write home about - its not dreadlful but not great either. They serve it from the kitchen - no buffet. The rooms are bad - small and musty. Odd, cheap furniture, on suite bathroom squeezed into... more

Stayed at this hotel for a wedding, our room was old fashioned, dirty and could only be described as the size of a small caravan. Sink was in the actual bedroom and the decor was so dated, pillows were like concrete and the mattress was lumpy. The hotel was charging us £55 for this room we were told the bride... more

We went just for one night. On arrival no reception and after buzzer a chap arrive ! no hello, no welcom ,half asleep and took us to our family room. Hardly any place to walk freely and for £82.00 a night it was awful to describe the least. In the morning we were given a table for two for breakfast... more

I loved staying in this mock Tudor Hotel lavished with character, lovely homely feel about the place. Sympathetically decorated and furnished. Great value for money here, the room I stayed in looked like it had been refurbished recently and I understand it has had a change of management of late. I received a warm, informal welcome and shown to my... more

I stayed at the shakespeare hotel two weeks ago on business, and was pleasantly suprised. Although I wouldn't stay there for a long stay, it is the ideal accomodation for a short time. The location was so central and the food was of a very high standard, better than I was expecting I have to say! Overall this hotel is... more

The shakespeared is located in an very good area of Bedford, of easy acces, 5 to 10 minutes walk and you're downtown. The service was great and the staff very polite and friendly. The food was delicious and served in time. I would recomend the Shakespeare to anyone taking a trip to Bedford. more

Well OK, if you have to stay the night somewhere this will do the job and the desk clerk was pretty friendly when he finally appeared from his room, but the whole place has not moved on since the 1970s. Breakfast was dull and delayed by what seemed to be the late arrival of indifferent staff who seemed to think... more

I booked my stay at the Shakespeare before reading the reviews on this site, and was obviously a little concerned. I only stayed the single night, and yes the room was small, but it was clean, comfortable and I was served a good breakfast. This isn't the best hotel you're ever going to stay in, but for the price it... more
