OK so the Shakespeare isn't very modern, or in the best state of repair. In fact it's a bit of a DIY bodgers nightmare. Whoever is doing the maintenance seems to have plenty of enthusiasm but little skill. But it's clean (if somewhat worn), the water is hot, the beds are comfortable, the staff are very helpful, and the food... More

Location: 5 mins drive away from the city centre. Room: It was a small room for 3 that fits just right. Old and needs to be refurbished as we can easily hear people walking outside. Washroom is small, watch out for slippery floor. Room was dusty. Breakfast provided, really good portion and nicely prepared. Overall: Bearable for a night's stay... More

Stayed for 1 night as we were down in Bedford for work. Staff seemed very confused and inefficient. All our rooms were to be paid for on the work credit card, but they insisted they had to take 3 different payments. Rooms were tiny, carpets were stained and coming up at the edges, someone had put the radiator on and... More

Dear Drinker_of_rum, Thank you for taking the time to review your stay with us. We are sorry to hear that you were not fully satisfied with your experience here. We work very hard to offer a good and friendly service and all staff are fully trained and experienced on both reception and bar. You have been asked to settle your... More

Well what can I say . My sister and I arrived early so we had a cup of coffee ( before the champagne reception ) The food was great , the crowd of people that were trying the " not having to cook on Christmas Day scenario " was large .However the dining room handled us easily. My turkey was... More

Lipstick marked glasses, plastic ham, missing roast potatoes, over microwaved Xmas pudding, defrosted warm cheesecake, one meal from each course missing so all waited, waiting staff clearing tables before everyone had finished eating, and a DJ that didn't cater for his audience. Not the night we were expecting!!!!

Organised our staff Christmas night out at the Shakespeare in Bedford. Lovely venue, lots of parking. Bucks Fizz drinks reception to begin our eve, very personal and attentive staff. Coped well with 36 of us. Food served hot and tasty. Drinks at bar reasonable. All round great evening, held in the Juliet Room.

Stayed in this hotel for three nights and found it extremely friendly and welcoming. The receptionist and barman were very friendly and couldn't do enough to help me. My room was very nice and extremely comfortable. The bar and restaurant areas were also very welcoming and relaxing. The dinners and breakfasts were exceptionally tasty. The Hotel is just a short... Just stayed in this hotel for one night while attending a party locally. The hotel is cheap but not nasty, it is clean and in a good location, but work does need to be done to bring up to acceptable standard. We had the smallest double room with the smallest double bed we had ever stayed in, room 5, and... More
