Location wise it has lovely views of the river and is set in tranquil grounds (although as other reviewers have said most of that is car park). My room looked over the rear of the hotel however so didn't get to see them! The room was lovely, very high spec in terms of furniture and flat screen televisions. The bathroom... more

I held my wedding at The Barns Hotel this year and the staff and venue was amazing. The only down fall was that the honey moon suites were not available due to refurbishment but i have to admit that the room they gave us was sensational, it was very quiet and had a lovely river view. The whole day was... more

The hotel was described as having 3acres of beautiful 'landscape grounds', which were described as beautiful to take a stroll in. My partner and I decided to go for a walk to find that the beautiful grounds was in fact the car park! There was nowhere else to walk as the hotel was directly opposite an industrial estate. Staff were... more

I got married at this hotel in Nov 08. The hotel was absolutely brilliant. Set in beautiful surroundings and next to the river. The whole day ran smoothly and without fault thanks to the great staff at the Barns. The food was exceptional. Everyone commented on the good quality food and service. The rooms are very nice with a large... more

I used the hotel for a small meeting and overnight stay with my colleagues as it was recommended to me, and found it to be excellent. The bedrooms and meeting room were spacious, warm and with natural daylight. The food was first class and service second to none. One of the best hotels I have stayed in for a long... more

I stayed for a period of three weeks. On week two the hotel went into administration and service became appauling. Prepare for a two hour wait to complete starter and main and that the main will inevitably be incorrect. I watched one of our party order a club sandwich and then the sandwich came out containing salmon instead of chicken.... more

Stayed at the Barns Hotel for one night as we had an event nearby. The hotel is by major roads but this did not detract from our experience. The rear view, with a lake running by, was lovely. Our room was recently refurbished to a very good standard, clean and comfortable. We ate dinner in the restaurant which was tasty... more

I'm writing this month some six months after the event I organised at this hotel took place. I thought it was quite well-equipped for purposes of holding a small conference - decent-sized meeting rooms, plasma screen tellies, plenty of break-out space and a large dining room serving quite acceptable food. I found all the staff very helpful. Some bedrooms -... more

After reading some of the reviews of the hotel we were a little worried about what we would find when we checked in. We need not have worried though. The reception staff were very efficient and had all our check-in details to hand when we checked in. Our room (number 17) was on the ground floor and was newly refurbished.... more

I am astonished with the bad reviews for this hotel. We got married at this hotel in 2004, and we can honestly say that we got treated really well. The honeymoon suite was lovely, and the staff could not be more helpful. We have been back several times, for dinners, lunches and Christmas dinners. The food has always been very... more
