It doesn't cost or take much to get the little things right. The hotel industry is a service industry - reception service here was appalling. I drove to the Swan yet no sign for the car parking as you swing into the road so the car in front and i drove into the road in front of the hotel and... More

This is a traditional town centre hotel with character. No generic rooms, boring prints on the walls and muzac in the lifts! It's right on the river, and has a lovely outside bar, which is perfect when the suns shining. The reception and bar areas are lovely; well furnished and comfortable, as were the rooms. The restaurant looked nice also,... More

Our family visited the Swan this morning at 10:30. We had just been to the cemetery for mum's internment and thought a family coffee would nicely finish off our morning. We told the waitress there were eight of us in our party but four of us arrived then shortly after, four more. We started by ordering two filter coffees and... More

We stayed at the Swan for a couple of nights and whilst the staff were helpful and friendly, and the room was spacious and comfortable, the catering was a complete disaster. We had booked a dinner, bed and breakfast package and were looking forward to eating in the restaurant. Unfortunately, both starters and both main courses were tepid. My wife... More

We were non-resident diners in the River Room Restaurant on 21st Jan 3015. I cannot comment on the bedrooms etc. The entrance way and foyer to the hotel was very old-worldley and gave an impression of bow ties, of creaky wood and of uniformed flunkies. The bar room at one side was warm (good fire) and well appointed . A... More

Just had an enforced hotel stay due to a burst pipe at home. Spent a week in this lovely old hotel with all modern comforts. Charming surroundings with friendly, helpful staff and a manager with great customer skills. Really pleasant, modern room, well furnished and very comfy beds. Good value breakfast, restaurant, bar and room service. Fabulous location by the... More

As a school we wanted to start our topic with an exciting ice skating trip and we were very pleased from start to finish with The Bedford Swan Hotel. Naomi was extremely prompt and communicating the options regarding our visit and was very accommodating with any requests, even getting more skating sizes in for the children. We opted for a... We had a wonderful stay. Good room, good rate, good staff, pleasant ambiance. Bar prices high. Car park charges? You must be joking! Good job we had an alternative! Anyway the overall experience was in effect 'not bad'..........but I have to admit....could be better.
