We were expecting a high standard but I have to say the reality surpassed the expectations. This hotel and its staff must prioritize attention to detail as quality showed everywhere. The rooms were lovely, clean and nicely fitted; the food was delicious and every member of staff we dealt with was absolutely fantastic. We weren't expecting it to be in... more

I stayed here for a week on business, subsequently returning for a few more days a month later. On my first visit, I was struck by the historical atmosphere of the hotel- it has an impressive past and certainly makes a good impression when you arrive. There are many things to like- the food is good, and the rooms are... more

This is a delayed review as I've only just discovered this website! But I just had to write something about how amazing the hotel was when my best friend got married there a few years ago. It was all perfect, I know she had no trouble in booking and organising the wedding. All guests (100ish sit down) had a wonderful... more

Thank goodness I was only staying one night - I was glad to leave! As with a previous reviewer, a hairy bathroom. I was moved to another room, but this took some time. Then I ordered room service, a thai fish curry and a mixed salad (undressed), plus a glass of wine and a small jug of milk. I got... more

Booked on the day and got a good rate though only booked room only as the breakfast seemed to be £30.00 more for a couple. The room was nice but the chambermail knocked and let herself straight in while we were still in bed asleep so we weren't too impressed. We checked in with a really good receptionist who directed... more

We stayed for a night only. I was looking forward to seeing our room as the place looks lovely as you enter. Spacious reception area and bar with lots of places to sit and relax. However, on inspection there are clearly problems with the rooms, which are need of a good refurb. Most worrying were the hairs in the bathroom.... more

Stayed here for my wifes birthday 27th to 29th July, but had to leave after the first night due to the heat in the rooms. Temperatues outside were in the eighties, and with no aircon, the rooms were way too hot. Didnt sleep more than 4 hours so felt awful the next day. We were on a DBB deal booked... more

We were booked into a room that overlooked the river- but it ALSO overlooked a flat rooftop littered with cigarette butts, bottle tops, and small trashy items. The windows had no screens for either safety or ventilation, and no sheer curtains- so in order not to suffocate, we had to open the windows to this dumpy roof and risk having... more
