First of all, this is a beautiful "English Country Manor" property. Decor of the interior is beautiful. But, when night falls, so does Dalston Hall. Interior lighting has no ambiance whatsoever; the lounge is lit like a chain supermarket; all brilliant and blinding led spotlights, cancelling the attempt of myriad candles to create coziness. And don't even mention the faux... More

Shouldn't really be called a hotel, as they don't do hospitality. We booked a room for £145, and when we tried to order a sandwich in the bar at 7.30 PM, we were told that Chef was willing to do it at !0 PM. What a joke.....Would not recommend a stay here...

we stayed January this year as a treat for my birthday. The place was deserted, not really surprising for January though t o be fair. £130 per night for a suite with a four poster...... yes the four poster was there.... but the rest of the decor looked as though an 18 year old had run amok with the next... We arrived at Dalston Hall about 9pm on Friday evening having travelled up from the South through terrible traffic conditions to attend a wedding locally. (we ate on the way as it was getting very late for us to eat). First impression was a little disappointing - remains of a large afternoon tea for a wedding party greeted us. Our... More

Up until 2 years ago this wonderful hotel was a regular 'haunt' for me. Following a change of jobs my visits stopped. I was delighted therefore to visit again this week. I hoped it would be as good as I remembered and I am glad to say it was. The hotel has so much character it is a joy to... More

This was my 2nd stay here. The hall is so full of character I quite enjoy it. And the restaurant is excellent. The food is superb, and as my title says, I love Sticky Toffee Pudding and have tried it all over the UK for many years and have never had one as good as Dalston Hall's. The rooms are... More

It's a lovely place, charming, well sited and very atmospheric. But the bed, bedding, lighting, bathroom and fixtures were a bit too worn for me. The restaurant staff were very friendly and I recommend trying the steak if you go there.

We booked the hotel for our wedding night. I am shocked to see all the negative reviews on the management. ALL the staff we met were helpful REALLY HELPFUL. on arrival we were greeted with the biggest smile by a lady called Becky who then went on to make our evening so magical. We stayed in Suite room 1 which... More

Really can't understand the bad reviews . The hotel is a lovely old building steeped in history with loads of character and charm . We stayed in junior suite 4 which had an ornate wooden bed and a fireplace with wood panelling ,for two nights and really enjoyed our stay . The bed was very comfortable and everything was spotlessly... More

Beautiful hotel, let down by the staff and management. We stayed here as a treat to end a road trip we had been on during May and from check in to departure we were completely appalled. Upon arrival we were barely greeted and asked immediately for our payment card. We were not given any information about the hotel and facilities... More
