We were visiting Carlise for a friend's wedding and booked Vallum due to it being great value. We were met with a really warm welcome by the front of house staff and they were giving us a bit of banter as well. As we had never been to Carlisle before we asked the best way to get to the wedding... More

I stayed at Vallum House for two nights while I completed the Hadrian's wall path. For walkers coming from East to West, you need to leave the footpath about 5 minutes after the diused bridge about 35 minutes after leaving Carlisle and you can find Burgh road 5 minutes from the path through the industrial estate. Vallum House is well... More

It's a B&B and for £26.50 per person per night with breakfast included it's very good. Asked if we would like an evening meal ( and no wonder because they need to make money on the food and the bar) which we declined because I wanted to see Carlisle as this trip was for my fathers birthday and I would... The food here is tremendous for a start.. But so expensive its unreal £45.00 for 2 meals and 2 drinks... The decor is a bit old fashioned too. Yeah the manager is a bit funny but its a great little place for a couple of nights stay i suppose.

Just attended a PRIVATE party there and from what I can gather and from what I saw Manager is in your face!!! Tries to boss you about if you hold a function there...all he's bothered about is people getting up and dancing then complains to his 'regulars', who he lets sit in on the private party, if they don't, I... I Enjoyed my short stay, recently. The rooms are warm, comfortable, clean and homely. Manager was very flexible over check in/out times. Have stayed before and the food was excellent (both dinner and breakfast). Friendly helpful staff. Would recommend.

Stayed here for a few nights in August whilst my Dad was in The Cumberland infirmary as it's just around the corner. Just wanted to say a massive thank you to all the staff here for managing to find room for us at the drop of a hat. Such a friendly, welcoming hotel. Breakfasts were fab and staff couldn't do... Arrived here after a long days walking the wall in torrential rain! Although we were wet and had backpacks on etc we were welcomed and after sorting our rooms out we were offered pots of tea and coffee in our rooms! One of our walkers was sitting outside resting after the walk but a member of staff took her a... More
