This hotel requires a vast amount of money spending on it. The whole place is tired and run down. The food is poor (green scrambled eggs) burnt or cold and lack of staff means you have to wait for service. The room we stayed in had black fungus on the ceiling, probably because the extractor fan did not work. Would... More

Chose to stay at the swallow because of the leisure facilities only to find that the pool was out of action on the day we stayed. We used the jacuzzi but the water was cold and on a timer .... very disappointed. There was no way of locking our belongings in the lockers in the changing rooms so we had... More

Stayed overnight on the way up to Scotland. This is a budget hotel which doesn't look too special from the outside, but it was reasonably comfortable and good value. Room was not large, but it was quite sufficient for a one night stopover. Bed mattresses were not superior quality and had seen obvious use, albeit we still enjoyed a good... More

I cant fault the staff as they were everything you would expect, lovely. However the rooms I have to say were very disappointing, wall paper hanging from walls, mould in the bathroom, and on windows, old chairs, old fashioned tv with no signal (not in all rooms I must add) had to ask for towels, the pool had broken that morning... Stayed in this hotel the night before the wall ultra race, the rooms are a wee bit small but nothing to drastic. wouldn't like to spend more than a few nights but for a stop over it was perfect. the staff were very helpful with regards to breakfast time, there must have been about 15 runners who all needed to... We booked this place through booking.com and were given a room on the top floor over the kitchen, and mechanical area of the hotel. It happened to be a very warm day when we arrived, and so the hotel on the top floor was stifling. There is no air conditioning, and the hallway was like a sauna. The windows in... More

After reading the reviews I wasn't looking forward to our stay. However some people just like to complain. We had a lovely clean room. The reception staff were polite and helpful. The evening meal had a good choice on the menu and was served piping hot. The breakfast was just as good and the staff were polite. What more could... More

I read all the reviews after I had booked the hotel as I booked via Superbreaks, only a few days before we travelled, and went with trepidation as it didn't come out very well and arrived to a warm welcome from the receptionist who took time to explain all we needed to know, booked our evening meal and proceeded to... We stayed overnight 21 June. This was our second visit. The hotel is good value for money. Book your evening meal when you make your booking and you won't be disappointed, you get a pleasant 3 course meal for a good price [ we paid £10 each]. There is a wide choice including fish and vegetarian. The tables are set... More
