Let me start with the positives. The hotel is reasonably easy to find, The reception and bar area are clean , with relatively new carpets. The dining room is OK, as is the breakfast. The staff are friendly and helpful. There seems to be.plenty of parking spaces. Never tried the pool or Gym so can't comment but it looked OK... More

On arrival to this hotel, parking the car was some what a challenge...unless I had a monster truck to tackle the hit on the pot holes! We managed to find space to park at the hospital next door at a cost!! When entering the hotel at 12am we stumbled across lurch...who didn't have any clue of our reservation..when told we... More

We enjoyed our stay at this hotel. It was a very good last minute DB&B deal and overall we felt it was excellent value for money. Easy location once we found out not to approach it through the city with all the traffic. The room was comfortable and had been recently decorated but the bed was old and a bit... More

Travelling from the bottom to the top of our island often necessitates a stopover point. I chose Carlisle and the Swallow Hotel because it's just off the M6, two miles down the road from J42. For what I paid I really can't fault it. Welcoming and efficient receptionist. Clean and well-decorated room with comfortable double bed. Free wi-fi in room.... More

This used to be a very tired hotel, but now things are looking a lot better. Rooms are clean and tidy with plenty of hot water. Breakfast was excellent and plentiful. Staff very welcoming and pleasant especially Cherry and Rachel on reception who could not do enough to help and make the stay very pleasant.

This hotel was booked some months ago for a large group of us, and after reading the trip advisor reviews last week, we weren't expecting much. It's true that the place has seen better days and is a little threadbare in places, but we found our room to be quite adequate, the bed was comfortable, and the shower, heating and... More

It was a tired old hotel. First image is ok, but it was dirty. Under sinks around a corner down right dirty. Towels a little thread bare. Price was low and breakfast was Great! So it balances out. Would I stay there again, Yea for the price and breakfast was included.

Firstly, my apologies to the tripadvisor community in not heeding your good advise of NOT staying at this hotel, but having stayed at their sister hotel "Thainstone" in Inverurie, I couldn't believe it could be that bad.............but it was. When I booked, I commented on the bad reviews and was told that it wasn't representative. Many people like this place.... More
