We stayed 2 nights on a special deal, £75.00 per night dinner bed and breakfast + a bottle of wine, chocolates and a pack of toiletries. We were walking Hadrian's Wall and took the bus back to Carlisle when we finished at Bowness on Solway to make use of the two night offer. Yes, the hotel is in need of... More

4 of us adults had a lovely stay at the above hotel recently. The staff were absolutely great, and the food was delicious & well presented, served by lovely pleasant staff. The facilities (swimming pool) very clean, ok the bedroom carpets need replacing, but the rooms were really clean, with everything you need.

Absolutely disgusting! Dirty everything, broken rails and shower only working on cold. Took one look at the pool and decided we wouldn't go near it. Breakfast was ok. This hotel needs serious renovation work

Well the reception carpet and corridors have been replaced. My bedroom carpet was threadbare, the only chair was dirty, also when I sat on it at the vanity desk it was too low to see the mirror, or type. The bathroom was clean, but the shower was held together with cable ties, the unit was broken so only ran cold... More

We stayed in the hotel over the bank holiday and to be honest I had read the reviews and thought it was going to be terrible . It was a lovely hotel , the staff are pleasant and friendly. The food was fabulous and hot . The rooms are clean and bedding was fresh. The only negative I had was... More

Had a one night stop here with Shearings holidays a week ago - rooms were in need of redecorating with wallpaper hanging off walls and water damaged ceiling - The restaurant was appalling, waiters and waitresses didn't have a clue took 2 hours for a fairly basic 3 course meal, didn't appear to have any supervision and when the waiter... Have been here years before when Swallow hotels were well maintained. This place has been down graded to doss house. Booked in first room was unfit for human habitation see pictures. Second room a bit nicer but so hot as you cannot turn off the heating and window only opens a few inches so no sleep as you lie in... More

We had a nice stay here staff were lovely and food was nice, but the hotel itself is quite dated but its value for money and a decent hotel to use as a stopover not really a hotel for a nice break, we stayed here for a couple of days and had a nice stay cant complain but if we... More

Over many years we have used this and other Swallow Hotels. We would be the first to say that some of the hotels are in need of refurbishment but this is part of their character and is reflected in the prices charged. We have always felt that whilst some of the hotels lacked some modern conveniences this was more than... More

Stayed for a short 2 night break. The hotel was shabby the staff were unfriendly and the atmosphere in the place was non existent. We booked in and were asked when we'd like to dine, we said 7 and thank goodness we only had a main course as the service was awful. Went to the bar and waited 15 to... More
