Duty Manager did deal with our complaint to our satisfaction. However how did this hotel get a 4* rating I wonder. The shower burnt your skin on 1 dial. The toilet blocked. The executive upgrade was NOT worth the money. The breakfast had mould growing on the packet bread which you had to toast yourself with a 9.99 toaster! the... more

Great position - although a little noisy. Lovely reception area and dining room and food was good. Free parking. HOWEVER - then you go upstairs...the refurbishment doesn't seem to have been thorough - corridors and stairs are dreary and in need of a facelift - the refurbished bedrooms were good but the bathrooms were definately in need of some attention.... more

This hotel had a bad reputation, so I was told by several locals under its previous name, but we had an exellent two nights on a package which included evening meals. The food was exellent mix of updated classics and the best of ingreedients: yummy, tasty , fresh, and should be used by the locals not just the hotel's guests.... more

Hotel has been renovated, but unfortunately my room wasn't. Staff are very friendly and helpful. Excellent location next to the station, just a few minutes walk to the shopping centre. Parking is limited, be there early, if not you have to park and pay in the station car park. Wifi is free, quick at times but does tend to loose... more

Recently stayed on a very busy weekend, was put in a room by the lift noisy all night. The room itself was not up to standard, just not clean no other rooms available. Others had better rooms. The unfurbished rooms should not be let out in that state. The bar area and restaurant are all OK, the downstairs loos are... more

Located immediately next to the Citadel train station and directly across from the Citadel, this hotel is excellently situated. Despite being in the center of it all, the rooms are surprisingly quiet. Furnishings are updated. The hotel is clean, service was friendly, and a free car park is located behind the hotel. A delicious Mexican restaurant (not affiliated with the... more

Stayed here one night. Bed comfy, room good size. Noise from everyone elses toilet flush heard down pipe in our bedroom. Food was below par for a hotel of this alleged caliber. Had to remind staff that we had ordered drinks. Wine came without cooler and I had to request this. waited 45 mins for starter to arrive!.Main course was... more

Unfortunately the refurb into a boutique hotel has not reached room 206 which did not come anywhere near the brochure promise of a "boutique hotel". The pampas bath had several large & ugly dings in the enamel, grouting was filthy, toilet seat had come adrift; The bedroom decor was rather sad 1980s vintage, the lampshdes were showing holes due to... more

Thank you for your review. We have taken your comments very seriously and I would like to apologise for the shortfalls you encountered during your stay. I live locally but stayed at the hotel as part of a large wedding party. Check in was great, the receptionist was really friendly. The room was gorgeous, we only paid £79 for a standard but were given a complimentary upgrade to one of the refurbished rooms, the room was like the ground floor, modern and boutique. Due to massive... more

I called reception with short notice asking if they could accomodate my partner and I they only had the bridal suit available which I took due to the shambles of a hotel i was staying in .
