It was comfortable and friendly staff were really helpful. Considering it was right on botchergate it was peaceful enough to stay in. However the bathroom facilities could do with updating and the windows would not stay open. I shared a twin room with a friend and the heating came on through the nite, mid may it is not needed. Other... More

My husband and I stayed here for a weekend. We arrived very late, and the night porter checked us in. He was friendly and chatty, making us feel very welcome. I was in my wheelchair and he advised that there was a wheelchair friendly room available if I would prefer it. Unfortunately it was twin beds, so we asked for... More

We were happily welcomed with open arms to the county hotel on the Easter Sunday, and even though we had hassle sorting out the rooms we had booked, the staff really proved their worth by helping us sort out this mess. Upon entering the rooms it was as if they were ready for royalty. After we had come back from... More

Right in the centre of Carlisle on the main pub / clubbing street so not ideal if you want a quiet night especially on a Saturday. However, our room at the back of the hotel was fairly quiet. Rooms are comfortable if a little old fashioned. Staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was satisfactory. Free parking for residents

I stayed here last night on business, and would much rather stay somewhere like this than the premier inn and travelodges I usually stay in. Why? The service was excellent- all the staff were friendly, helpful and available- where so often they are hidden at other budget hotels. Yes, the decor is a bit tired, but the room was clean... More

I stayed in the biggest room imaginable. Really huge, but so big, it felt under furnished, there was a sofa in the middle of the room. The bathroom was past its best as was much of the hotel, it is in real need of an upgrade. The staff were great, really friendly and personable, there was a mistake with the... More

When we arrived the outside appearance did not entice us, but inside was a different story. The Receptionist was welcoming and friendly, our room was not yet ready but we were able to leave our bags. The Room was very spacious and the bed was huge. Internet was good, but restrictions were in place, unless paid for. The bathroom was... More

Would not use this hotel, the Staff are first class in every way but the hotel needs to spend money and get sorted out. Old worn out and out of date, tiles were discontinued in 1972. The bathroom was dirty, worn out and well past it sell by date which should have been ten years from the above date, it... More

Frankly, it was booked for me by a pal. Maybe ex-pal. Booking dot com was £49 a night, no breakfast. Booking direct gets you breakfast. I wouldn't have eaten there though (Rufus across road, breakfast £2.99 + 99p coffee, free refills till 2 pm...but I digress) "Tired" doesn't fit the bill, It's worn out. Yes, there's free parking. Yes it's... More

I made the mistake of staying here as it was a regular haunt of my colleagues. Their reasons for staying can only be the price (very cheap), location (centre of town), and free parking (self explanatory) - but to be honest the old Regent Palace Hotel in Piccadilly was nicer than this place and that was the definition of a...
