I am told Joseph and Mary were offered this particular room at the County Hotel, but having tested the mattress they immediately opted to sleep in the stable instead. The rest is history. I lie on said mattress and look up the ceiling of this tiny room. The lampshade was clearly used as target practice by a disgruntled occupant back... More

County Hotel is class and nobody can handle the awsomeness so they just rate it poor. This is the place where dreams are made, breakfast is amazing and the corridors are really easy to navigate. Lift works as smooth as olivier girouds finishes. If you want a bad hotel go to the Travelodge, I love the County Hotel. FFFRRRRREEEEEDDOOOOMMMMMMM!!!!

The location of this once grand hotel is perfect, about 100 metres from the station and 5 minutes from the main shopping centre and Cathedral. We had a lovely large room with a comfortable bed and a clean and functional bathroom. The view from our room was nothing to write home about but be honest how long do people spend... More

This hotel has seen better days but my room was clean, bright and with a huge comfortable bed. Bathroom was tired but functional. I arrived quite late and planned to eat in the hotel but the menu choices were uninspiring. There is however a great chippie nearby, so I had a takeaway. I've seen many of these once lovely old... Avoid the disgusting County Hotel in Carlisle. I arrived there today, checked in and immediately checked out again. It was absolutely awful. The carpets are filthy, the room was the size of a show box, the bed frankly had seen better days and the television was something from my grand-parents era.... I do not understand how this hotel can market... More

I stayed at the county hotel for one night as my first choice was fully booked. Location wise perfect from the train station arrived to the hotel checked in, was given a wifi password (which didn’t work). Started my way to my room up the stairs where the carpet was thread bare, interesting start. Got to the room simple, bed,... More

It's in the centre of Carlisle, literally a stones throw away from the train station, which was the main reason we booked here. The receptionist wasn't very welcoming and didn't seem interested in her work so we needed to ask about everything because she wouldn't have told us anything. Our room smelled like faeces when we walked in and we... More

Stayed on a Saturday night which was a mistake. The hotel is on the main street for nightlife and was incredibly noisy til at least 5am. The hotel is old and the room was basic and in need of a total refurb. No soundproofing whatsoever. Lots of people staying here were obviously there for the nightlife so there was constant... More

The Hotel is deceiving in as much as it has only a narrow frontage but opens like the Tardis once inside. It has an admirable position for discovering the delights of Carlisle, the railway station and shops. Like so many of the hotels it has a bit of a tired air. Our room was quite spacious with plenty of storage... More

My party of 12 stopped here overnight and had no complaints at all. It is very handy for all shops and amenities. Hotel Car park was very useful too especially with city parking can be a problem. ALL staff were very friendly and helpful. The food was great we had evening dinner and breakfast. Large sized portions which suited 12... More
