We stayed 21/7/15 and checked out 23/7/15, we booked a double room which looked very nice on Booking.com, but when we checked in they gave us a Triple room, the carpets were stained and ripped, broken tiles on the floor in the bathroom, the towel rail was also on the floor. We tried to open the windows which just would... More

Had bookings for two seperate nights. The first night I stayed I got in after a long days walking and was very tired and ready to see my room. At first glance to room looked great. But ....after having a rest and with clear eyes I noticed the bathroom was way below standards => using polite words here. The linoleum... More

The rooms were poorly maintained, small bed and shower that is in need of renovation. The room was hot and lacked ventilation, breakfast was an incentive had to pay. Good point close to town & station

We've stayed here a few times now. Dog friendly-no extra charge. Breakfast is available but not included. The rates are very reasonable. The staff are pleasant. The place is large and its decor upstairs is not top notch (but there are some fabulous feature entertainment rooms with lovely Victorian features worth seeing) but it is always clean and comfortable. There... More

Stayed here, and fail to see what all the complaints on here are about. Sure it is an old hotel, and some tweaks are required. Furniture a bit dated, couple little threadbare patches on carpet, but, as far as I can see, they are in an area just outside lift, at the top of a step, where people will be... More

We love Carlisle and we were looking forward to a pleasant stay, although we have never stayed in the city centre before. We were grateful to get a room at the rear of the hotel away from the main street on the second floor. The room was clean warm and the bed very comfortable, The toilet did not flush properly... This hotel must have been out standing in days gone passed ,the attention to detail ie ceilings fireplaces and woodwork is amazing.....sadly it now just looks a bit tired carpets need replacing and generally it needs redecorating......Having stated that we stayed for three nights and we were well looked after, all the staff were very obliging and help full with local... Stayed last weekend. Never again. The place is tired out. The carpets are filthy and stained in all the areas I saw. Twin room with rock hard beds. Clean bedding. The front bedrooms overlook the Main Street for the revellers and the pubs are BUSY. DONT EXPECT ANY SLEEP ! The bathroom was basic but a bath was out of... More

I have stayed here twice now. Fours years apart exactly. Both times I felt the staff were the best thing about the place. It's a very old building that is desperate for a makeover. I had s twin room which was small, beds were comfortable but the carpets in the room are threadbare, there is water damage on the walls... More

Dilapidated and dirty..... The carpets are dirty the bathroom floor is sticky and the only way to run a bath is to detach the shower head as the tap is broken. Missing skirting boards and frayed curtains. The tv has 3 static covered channels. You get all of this for the knock down price of £60 for one person for... More
