We stayed at derwentleigh on 7th of Sept 2013 and may i say that we could not fault the house the owners or the meals. Without a shadow of a doubt we will return next year for our golf outing Yvette and Norman could not help us enough even suggesting that she may even organise the golf outing for us... More

I booked into this guest house for three nights but only stayed for one. The room was quite small with the kettle jug on your bedside table right up against the bed. The bed linen was shabby and the springs were gone in the bed. When I pointed this out to Yvette she became quite abusive. She asked me if... More

Yvette & Norman - we thank you once again for the most wonderful and fantastic stay. Our first stay was 5 years ago and since then the quality of standards have continued and nothing is ever too much trouble for you. We always receive the warmest of welcomes so much so we feel like part of the family. You both... More

Pictures speak louder than words - see attached. The very worst part for me was that we booked to stay in the other part of this establishment which is graded 4 Star Visit Britain and instead they placed us here - without our consent - you wouldn't stay here by choice. While I was discussing my dissatisfaction with the owner -... I arrived at the Derwentlea to find the front door open but no one in. The entrance hall, downstairs lounge and breakfast room looked very nice. I phoned the guest house and advised I had arrived and was met by the cleaner from the Langleigh Guest House which the owners also own. The cleaner advised that the front door must... More

We stayed here for one night on our way home from a 17 day trip around Scotland. We also booked an evening meal as we knew we would be exhausted on arrival. The owners are very pleasant and we were given a whole list of things to choose from for our evening meal (has to be booked in advance and... More

We chose to stay at the Langleigh Guest House in Carlisle on our way to Inverness. I believe the Langleigh was being decorated and we were shown the Derwentlea 4 doors along, which is also owned by the same couple. As we had not booked we were pleased we could be accommodated and our car could be parked off road.... More

We needed a family-friendly bed and breakfast near to the centre of Carlise and that is exactly what we got. With off-street parking, a warm welcome and a large en-suite room, it was perfect for 2 adults and a baby. Travel cot and high chair were provided. The property is a large victorian house, the room we had was clean,... More
