Good location for station and for Colchester centre. Staff were very helpful. Room clean and comfortable. Shower was a mixer type above the bath and was not easy to get right temperature. Overall Hotel is a bit basic but good price so good value for money

Booked this without checking trip adviser! On arrival was shown to a family room, I think I was in shock!!! I could not believe what I was seeing!!! Had a room move to smaller twin which on the whole was better but if it had not been bankholiday I would have certainly asked for my money back, there is so... More

I don't know what is worst between a poor breakfast (just a toast, orange juice and cereals) or the small bed, just for one person that they sell as a double. Not really claned and the woman owner was rude. When we could finally leave that place, there's no ona at the reception and so we didn't know where to... More

If you're expecting the perfection of a chain hotel, think again. Right on the river bank a few minutes from City Centre. It's a lovely place to stay. Staff are great, especially Sandra on breakfasts. No food in the evenings, but there's any number of bars and restaurants within a 5-10 minute walk or they're happy for you to bring... More

the hotel itself is adequate but unfortunately my whole family got food poisoning from the breakfast. This meal was the only meal my whole family had the same so it must of been the breakfast in the hotel, we have been ill now for 3 days vomiting and diarrhea. Disappointing end to a holiday, would not recommend this hotel.

I've stayed here a couple of times before and I wasn't let down at all! I often travel from London to colchester for university, exhibitions etc and have always needed somewhere close and easy to get to to stay. This place was cosy with clean rooms and friendly staff. Cost was cheap enough with breakfast included however unfortunately I haven't... More

Good location with free parking. Reasonable value for money at £30 a head with breakfast however the breakfast was kiddy portion size. It's an old building but everything is grubby including the cutlery, crockery, bathrooms etc. could do with a good clean to transform it from shabby hostel to quaint olde inn.
