This B & B had the wow factor as soon as you walked through the door, Angela & Alan are excellent hosts. Room & en-suite were spacious with lovely decor, and spotlessly clean. Lots of little extras that just makes the difference. Would stay here again without a doubt.

I've been lucky enough to stop at some quality B+Bs and Timbers is another one I am happy to recommend. Clean, all the trimmings and everything I expect from 4* accommodation. As for the unique selling point, at Timbers, it is the hosts, Alan and Angela that provide the X factor! Both go out of their way to meet you... More

Booked to stay here for one night and liked it so much that we stayed the next day too. Lovely house. Feels like home. Nice room. Homemade cookies, water tea coffee. Lovely homely touches. Breakfast was lovely and loads of. Would recommend. Owners are lovely and friendly

We stayed here in October...what a fabulous b&b you feel you are somewhere very special and Angela & Alan could not have been more hospitable. The breakfast was outstanding, most comfortable beds and lots lovely little extras-shortbread & sherry in our room. Will definitely return and would highly recommend!

Absolutely worth the 9.6 on booking.com so I believe it should be raised to equal heights on tripadvisor. Lovely rooms, small sherry on arrival, great breakfast, especially the eggs Benedict. Located in private street with sunken garden and arbour...perfect

We have just returned from a lovely two night break in Colchester. We stayed in the Timbers B&B. We arrived to a very warm welcome from Angela & Alan. We stayed in the lovely Oak room overlooking the garden. As well as the very nicely equipped tea/coffee tray, Angela offered to make us a tray of tea. Lovely little extras... More

Booked a night at Timbers for the price of a crummy chain hotel and had a real 4 star welcome. Big comfy bread, tea and cakes on arrival, sherry and fruit in room, help to find a restaurant and best breakfast for ages.

Arrived early but not a problem. Room very clean and tidy. Fruit, biscuits and sherry in our room. Bed very comfortable. Nice and quiet. Not separated from main house which is different for us in so far as we are used to not seeing the owners of a B & B unless we ring a bell or at breakfast time.... More

We arrived at Timbers late afternoon on Friday 18 July following a difficult journey on the hottest day of the year. Angela and Alan immediately made us welcome with drinks and cake in their lovely garden. We had booked two rooms, both of which were excellent and very well appointed. In advance of our stay, they had arranged a table... More
