Staff were welcoming on arrival, however that was the only positive to our stay. We're not fussy when it comes to hotels as we view them only as somewhere to sleep, but this was not even possible here! I'm average hight and the bed was too short for me, my feet hung off the end. My husband, who is slightly... More

Bar is supposed to stock several lagers on tap but didn't have any, only expensive bottled beer. The service in the restaurant was unbelievably slow. If you are going to eat there allow at least an extra hour. I asked for French mustard( not particularly exotic) but was told they didn't have any. Food was good and prepared from scratch... More

Myself and my husband booked to stay at the Red Lion over the bank holiday weekend. We arrived at 2.30pm on Saturday 23rd August to be informed that there had been problems with the laundry service and our room was not ready. We were served coffee in the lounge whilst we waited along with another couple. The staff were very... More

Myself and two friends went to the Red Lion restaurant last night- I had no idea it was there an was actually so beautiful. It really is impressive when you walk in and see the traditional decor and it certainly does have a very spooky feel. I will give a special mention to the waitress - she was lovely and... More

This hotel was disappointing, the double room we had (room 2) was very small, tired and not clean, the bathroom felt dirty, the described excellent shower was certainly not excellent. The walls had marks on them and needing painting. Also the room did not have a mirror near a plug socket!! This was very frustrating when trying to dry my... More

we stayed at the red lion for one night in august 2014 the room was sold as a double room but the bed was only just large enough for two people [4ft wide] there was only one cup one glass in the room which makes me think its usually sold as a single , as there is no parking at... More

Stayed here for 2 nights in a twin room. Very clean, neat and spacious room and bathroom. You have to pay separately for breakfast, so can't comment. Service was ok. This hotel is an old building but quite well maintained. Probably not for those with mobility issues.

Just got back from staying in the hotel last night with my daughter, we had a lovely time, the staff were very friendly and helpful, especially on reception, we had a lovely breakfast this morning, it is reasonably priced, yes it is a little tatty round the edges, but I think it gives it more character that way. We will... More

My partner and I came here after looking for a restaurant neither of us had been to before. After looking at the reviews, we were a little reluctant to try at first, but we thought we'd see for ourselves. When we arrived, we were greeted by a very lovely and friendly waitress who was very attentive throughout the meal. My... More
