You can only currently book this hotel through Booking.com as refurbishments of the main house continue and your accommodation is in a separate annexe at the back which reminded me of sixties-built social housing. (see the previous review by Haydon-Berrow which describes your first perceptions perfectly). The accommodation was nevertheless, more than adequate providing all the basics for a very... More

I found and booked this hotel by searching on-line. The picture of the hotel is misleading because it appears to have been under refurbishment for over a year, all the accommodation is in a modern disconnected annexe at the back. I arrived and parked at the front but I had been advised by another review to leave my luggage in... More

As a contractor I have racked up some experience staying in B&B's, budget hotels, independents and chains. So i've a lot to compare this too and the past 2 years have been in and around Sheffield / Rotherham. So lets begin. The rooms smell "foisty", just old, dusty and poorly kept. The bedding smelt the same but more noticeable. Second... More

Room was in annex. It smelt damp, carpets were dirty, both the room and bathroom needed refurbishing. Reminded me of a contractors hostel, not a hotel to book on a leisure trip, No breakfast facilities were available.

I booked this hotel earlier today for tonight but at the last minute my meeting was cancelled..I contacted the hotel to cancel my room but was still expecting to pay as such short notice...what I didn't expect was a very rude lady on reception. ..will never book again

Travelled with a group of lads who are used to staying in budget hotels on the odd weekend away, but this was by far the most basic. Bad: What you get is not value for money, the separate building from the hotel we stayed in smelt and was very run down. Bed felt like the springs were broken. Good: Good... More

I stayed at the Brecon Hotel for around 9 weeks whilst working in the area and to be honest I'm very surprised by some of these reviews! We were welcomed very politely each week, the room was clean and tidy with regular visits by the cleaner. All in all a very quiet and enjoyable stay, if we return to work... More

Awful from start to finish .. Polite girl working on reception who greeted us and told us we had to stay in the annex part of the hotel situated at the back of the hotel - quite a pleasant girl however told us very patronisingly that we must keep the room tidy during our stay. On arriving at the annex... More

Stopped here as a last minute thing via booking.com and despite renovations taking place to the bar and restaurant was a lovely little hotel. I was welcomed nicely and fully explained to about works being carried out. Given my key and off I went. The room was dated but comfortable, clean, spacious and value for money. The heating is old...
