When we arrived, we had to wait while the barmaid finished her cigarette before we were booked in. We paid cash but didn't get a receipt until next day which we had to request from them and wait while they sought out the receipts. I stayed at the Phoenix in February of 2003 and while it was by no means palatial, I did not think it was bad. Hot water worked, beds were clean and staff was friendly. Would I stay there again? Oh I don't know, I earn a bit more money now, but at the time, it was adequate for our needs. more

Where do you start. Door lock that looked like it had been tampered with, bed linen and towels not changed once in the 3 day stay i had the misfortune of staying there. no toilet for hotel itself so you had to use the gents in the pub downstairs which would have been fair enough if it was in use.... more

Not worth the money at all. Staff showed no sign of knowing we had reserved rooms.
