Very nice hotel, stylish with a feel of history. The room was spacious and bed very comfortable. The food was delicious with an excellent choice including some interesting dishes. When it became busy it was slightly chaotic and though there was not a long delay with the service there was almost a sense of panic

Terrace area its greatest asset. Staff friendly, good at apologising for long delays after the ordering of food even at breakfast.but the food was good Generally an interesting time warp hotel but needs to improve the functionality of the bedrooms. A fridge would help. Awkward to unpack & put away your things as short wardrobe nowhere to hang a dress &... More

My wife and I stayed stayed two nights at the end of a holiday touring the UK. This was a superb place to finish. The hotel is only a five minute walk from Stamford's centre. It is easy to drive to and find. It has a large car park. Our room was oddly shaped, with a cramped bedroom and a... More

This old hotel building has been revamped and updated in an original and sensitive manner resulting in some attractive but quirky layouts. The staff are cheery and helpful but service can be slow. Remember if you eat outside on the terrace the tables are furthest from the kitchen. The food was excellent There is no lift so we asked for... More

Lovely small boutique hotel. A corner of old England a short stroll from Stamford . Well appointed spacious authentic rooms, friendly and efficient staff, and a relaxed feel . We didn't eat in the restaurant but the menu looked good with local produce abounding .

Went to the Cecil for the first time for lunch on Monday. I've lived in Stamford for many years and never considered it but I'm very pleased I did. First of all the service was excellent, all the staff were very friendly and helpful and then the food arrived and it was delicious, great quality and lovely setting. We will... More

Stayed here for two nights with my sister and brother in law. This is a brilliantly located, completely charming hotel. A lovely historic and quickly building with beautiful gardens which are well maintained. The staff are a delight but, I fear, under rescored. It certainly felt that way on one or two occasions. We had booked the top end Luxury... More

Thank you for your fair and honest review. I was pleased to read your comments regarding food and service. I'm sorry to hear of the problems you encountered regarding the cushions for the furniture in room 4's private garden, and your room being serviced. This appears to be due to poor communication at our end, a point I will address... More

We booked a one night dinner, bed and breakfast stay here for our wedding anniversary. The price I paid was at the top end for a hotel that does not offer facilities such as a gym or swimming pool, but what it lacks in amenities, it makes this up by providing a hotel full of character, and more importantly exceptional... OK, I have seen that other people complained about the road noise - I am not sure if it is fair to search out a hotel on a lively road and then complain about the noise. But it should be mentioned, that throughout the night it's quite noisy, especially when people go full throttle uphill, which seems to be a... More

My wife and I stayed overnight en-route to Suffolk and slept in the Goody Ruskington room which is on the ground floor towards the back of the hotel Reasonably quiet - we were glad to be on the ground floor because there is no lift to upper floors Good location on edge of what looked to be a very attractive...
