Stamford is an amazing old town with its yellow stone buildings and unspoilt ambience. The William Cecil Hotel was really excellent. Ample parking, friendly pleasant staff on reception, large room ( the Cecil) . Room was classy , bed was comfy and spacious. Bathroom clean . Evening meal and service was excellent and reasonably priced. House wine was good. Bar... More

My husband and I stayed one night at the William Cecil in Stamford in November 2013 to celebrate our wedding anniversary. It was a lovely hotel with excellent food and ambiance, but it was clear at the time that some issues had not been ironed out yet, particularly to do with the front of house staff. We gave them another... More

We stayed at the William Cecil for one night in November on a B&B basis. There was two of us in a classic room and the total cost was just £95. The room was very clean and comfortable, with great little touches like tea-pigs, a cafetiere, bottled water and a complimentary miniature of organic spirit to sample. Breakfast was excellent,... It's a great hotel, good location - a few minutes walk into town. The rooms are nice, comfortable and clean. Breakfast and dinner was very good. The staff are very helpful, couldn't do enough for you. We checked out very very early and they even offered to prepare a breakfast. Will be certainly coming back here.

Let's start with the location...absolutely perfect, make sure you get the chance to walk around the town as there is loads of it and it is really pretty and well kept. They filmed some famous period dramas here and the locals are really proud so be respectful of their lovely town. Also there are no beggars and I did not... More

We choose the William Cecil as it offers an 'easy' access room for my 89 year old mother. This is in a separate lodge building and we had the room above. Both rooms were very pleasant and being away from the main building were nice and quiet. The easy access room is ideal for someone with limited mobility but probably... More

This is now our occasional but regular watering hole in Stamford - much better than the "most expensive" hotel in Stamford. The reception staff are particular welcoming and efficient. Restaurant excellent, even on a Sunday night when a wedding was in full swing we didn't feel neglected or "out of it". The car park has plenty of space and the... More

A very comfortable (quirky- their words) hotel. All the bedrooms are differently themed and are well appointed and some nice touches. Staff are attentive ad friendly. Good location for lots of exploring including Burghley House and Rutland Water
