We had our wedding here in July and I cannot say enough how AMAZING this place is. The staff here are unbelievable and go the extra mile to make your stay as good as it can be. They are very helpful and friendly, and genuinely want to make your stay comfortable and enjoyable. The rooms themselves are all individually decorated... More

We stayed in the lodge number 27 on the ground floor, very noisy floorboards from room 28 upstairs, shame no bath. Shower Ok but water runs into room! Noticed all of the heating was on room was red hot at height of summer! Bed ok though watch your legs on corners biggest issue for us was the TEA teapigs brand... More

Friends wedding. Lovely weather, lovely food, pate lovely, roast beef beautiful gravy. Problem was different price for drinks every time we visited the bar. Staff training in order I think. Husband spoke to a woman who said was a bar manager and she didn't seem that helpful.

We stayed two nights (Sun and Mon) as a base for exploring Stamford and the surrounding countryside. This is a historic stone-built building that has been renovated to a high standard to make it modern but not predictable. Our room was beautifully decorated with interesting wallpaper, comfortable beds, excellent bathroom space. The only downside was being on the road side... More

We were on a "Burghley Break" so we were in one of the "cheap" rooms. Nevertheless, we would have hoped for better. The room was stiflingly hot, not helped by the radiator in the ensuite being on maximum heat. We asked for help in getting it off, but the help was a very long time coming. The room suffered both... I wanted to take my nine year old daughter and a few friends out for birthday cake and lemonade, following a pottery painting party, and contacted the William Cecil to see if they would be happy to accommodate ten of us. Reception put me through to the events organiser, Jo, who was incredibly helpful, suggesting that we take a small... More

We had high hopes for the William Cecil when it first opened but unfortunately it hasn't really lived up to its name. Went for Sunday Lunch and they were out of beef. The service was slow and the restaurant was quiet. Nice food though and the terrace is lovely

Just returned from a one night stay at this delightful hotel. Our room, The 9th Earl was spacious, quiet and had a pleasant patio/garden to sit out in. The evening meal was superb and we can certainly recommend the Turbot. Jen the restaurant manager was efficient and friendly and made the meal really special. Breakfast was amazing with lots of... Having recently moved to the area we are investigating places to eat. Having tried to book a table previously and still awaiting a reply as to whether a table would be available, we decided to try again for our wedding anniversary. There was no one to welcome us at the restaurant and had to find a waitress to check in.... More

Friendly and welcoming with lovely touches in the rooms. Never seen a tea pig before and the elderflower liqueur was a welcome surprise. Breakfast was very good indeed with a full choice. Don't think you could ask for anything more - they have thought of everything. So what did I do in return? Walked off with the room key. Sorry,... More
