Having travelled all over the world, this has to be one of the worst! The room was poor, the noise from the 24hr petrol station was unbelievable. I left early without breakfast, I note that after my conversation with the Manager, my card has not been charged. A lesson learned, check the reviews o here more carefully!

Having lived in Stamford for some years before our move to South Yorkshire we know the place pretty well so as we were visiting friends there we looked for somewhere to stay. We could only find rooms in the "Green Man" and recognising it for a typical Stamford pub we thought it would be somewhere pleasant to rest our heads.... More

On arrival the pub looked pleasant clean and tidy Greeted by friendly staff All good so far...Going upstairs was not a good experience Ragged carpet threatened trip hazards. The room opp toilet was shabby with stained carpets , wallpaper peeling and dirty. Coming back mid evening I find no lights on passageway had to leave toilet door open for light... More

Had tried hard to get a hotel room in Stamford on Saturday night - must have tried every hotel, guest house, pub and B&Bs. Due to reviews for The Green Man we had originally decided against it; however as there was 'no room at the inn' we had no choice left to us and we booked a room for £60... More

The Green Man is a typical pub and fine if you just want somewhere to lay your head for the night in rural England. I stayed there for the Burleigh Horse Trials and the price was ridiculous but it was close to the action and clean. Forget an easily night as the floor shakes with the reverberation from the bass... Stayed at the Green Man this weekend and would NEVER stay here again. The stairs are a death trap with a tread bare carpet. Our room didn't have a bulb in the ceiling and the light over the mirror didn't work. There was one tiny side lamp on the bedside cabinet. The bed had a piece of metal poking through... More

Top place. Being from Sheffield, the real ale capital of the world, I found this old boozer to be rather charming. Nice selection of real ales, continental lagers and cool jukebox. This also comes with a nice beer garden and friendly locals and staff. I concur about the perilous staircase but who cares really. I took a pictures out with... More

Myself and a friend decided to stay at the 'Green Man' after being recommended to us... What a distaster this night was. It was a Friday night and we'd been told we were the only ones in the inn.. After being shown to our room the young girl 'bec' supposedly to be the bar manager she told us if we... More

Following a business meeting in town, I decided to have a pint at The Green Man. From the moment I walked in it felt like my local, the fire was blazing away, the regulars were chatting away at the bar, the staff were friendly and the jukebox was playing at a nice volume. The selection of real ales was superb.... More

Despite a mix up with my booking, David the manager was very welcoming and showed me to my room. Staircase was very windy and steep-wouldn't suit people with mobility problems-but room has everything I need. Nice big, comfy bed, flat screen tv with freeview, plenty of hanging space for my clothes. The room wasn't ensuite, but the toilet and spacious... More
