Afternoon tea... Long wait for service, long wait until tea arrives, this is saturday afternoon during the summer agreed, but seriously, lots of lovely tea shops in Stamford to visit no where near as expensive. Good experience, but experienced out and was quite frustrated on last visit, last weekend.

Great setting and five star food. Afternoon tea is also a delight. Staff are always pleasant and provide great service. If you fancy a treat in Stamford this is the place to go! Can't wait to return is summer and enjoy the lovely outdoor area! Superb

We happend to come across The George whilst visiting Stamford and thoroughly enjoyed the afternoon tea. The atmosphere was really good and the place was packed so advise you arrive at around 3pm to get a table outside.

My partner and I are well-seasoned 'week-end' breakers and, on recommendation, booked into the George on 11 June for a 2 night stay. We were most warmly welcomed (by name, which I like!), and were absolutely delighted with our beautifully furbished room overlooking the Courtyard. The décor was charming and the towels in the lovely bathroom were the best we've... More

We were on holiday in nearby Elton and this was recommended for afternoon tea. Positives were we were seated quickly, portions were good and everything was fresh and tasty. The staff were all very pleasant. Downside took some time for our table to be cleared. The clientele was a little snobby - we are both heavily tattooed but both full... More

Lovely building, disappointing room, small and basic, no airconditioning. The Garden Room Restaurant was average bland food. Classic mistake of hotels .....very little soft furnishings in the restaurant, resulting in high noise levels....impossible to talk! Luis the waiter almost threw the cutlery and dishes at us.....charmless and disinterested. Our bill for one night, a lunch of two sandwiches and a... More

What a disappointment. used to be amazing but now service is rubbish with nobody seemingly to understand English for simple things like drink orders, or could you clear the table please.... food was over cooked and the buffet whilst meats were great, the lack of salad was incredible..... not even a regular green salad available unless u have as a... I booked a table for a friend's birthday The atmosphere was very pleasant and the service we received on arrival was most welcoming... You were made to feel right at home My only criticism would be regarding the food and service While it may be pricey and of a high standard what I didn't expect was to be bombarded by... More

A family occasion celebrating some children's school success, but underwhelmed by very ordinary food. I do not mind paying £20 for a burger, but expect it to be really very good and not a dried up piece of pre-cooked meat lacking taste and imagination. Oysters were great, although they are hard to mess these up!! This place needs a chef... More

I am very sorry to hear that you left so disappointed. Our burgers are made from minced rump steak and are one of our top sellers. More

Room 25 was unbearably hot on arrival, unfortunately the road noise was such that it was too noisey to have the window open to allow the room to cool. The problem was compounded by the fact that the hotel floodlights shine directly on to the room! All in all a real dissapointment. Far from ideal for a romantic night away... More

We feel that all of our rooms are of a high quality and luxurious. The floodlights go off before it goes dark, but we will check the timer. More
