Our first visit to The George was a delight. The food was delicious and the staff were very friendly. We ate in the Oak Panelled Restaurant and I had the pleasure of eating the largest Yorkshire pudding I've ever seen! Very enjoyable evening.

Love the George but it needs to be a special occasion for me as it is expensive. Afternoon tea is very special. The rooms are quirky as the building is so old. I have eaten in the garden room a few times and it is the cheapest if the George's restaurants so quite relaxed but still on the expensive side... More

We visited the restaurant for my 50th birthday and found the whole experience first class . Food was the best I had ever tasted with service second to none .Not cheap but you pay for what you get, definitely will go back . Only negative was had to park in public car park as hotel car park was overflowing .

As always, we where not disappointed. We stayedin Room 9, refurbished. Beautifull colors abd comfy bed. Great english Breakfast. Reception Staff could be a bit friendlier. Dinner in the Drawing room requires Jacket and tie... a bit old fashioned. Smart cloths definatly!!!

We were cycling in the area and definitely not the kind of people that normally stay here looking hot and sweaty, but the staff could not have been more polite and helpful. The room was lovely but surprisingly hot and it overlooked the road so cannot say I had a wonderful night's sleep. They would I think provide a fan... More

Recently visited here for the 3 rd time and every single time it has delivered. The service is exceptional, everyone that passes you will welcome you. The food is also incredible, especially the beef. Highly recommended. We have not stayed at the hotel so this review is purely for the restaurant but if the hotel is managed the same way... More

We have used this hotel for several family special occasions but what struck me this time is how this very busy hotel has actually raised its game to be excellent. We had booked the London Room for our father's 90th birthday lunch for 21 guests. Every detail was superb, the service managing to serve three courses to an ever changing... More

Very nice room overlooking the outside eating area. My wife said it was a bit noisy, especially when luggage etc was being wheeled over the cobbles. Wouldn't say it was a disabled friendly hotel. Plenty of different levels. Had a very nie dinner in the Garden Room. Breakfast was excellent, had one of my favourite items-kidneys. Staff were very helpful.... More

We booked on a last-minute break for two nights. We've been here before, and this really is a charming old hotel that blends old and new. I love the gardens, the breakfast is terrific, our room had a lovely comfy bed. We had afternoon tea yesterday, lovely warm scones and dainty fresh cakes. Service was a little unpolished, the staff... More

My wife and I stayed there last month and had s lovely time. It is a cut above the normal market town coaching inn and much bigger than you expect from the road. The car park is spacious and the garden well looked after. Our room was large as was the bed and as it overlooked the courtyard rather than... More
