I have visited The Mount Somerset Hotel numerous times for business lunches. Each time, whether it is a fish, meat or vegetarian dish it has been so laden with garlic it all tastes the same. On 3 separate occasions it has caused me severe diahorrea within an hour of the meal, (and I don't have a delicate stomach!) The staff... More

I booked a spa day with a friend via a Living Social deal for a treatment, use of spa facilities and lunch. Unfortunately I was very late (3 hours!) due to there being an accident on the motorway en route. The staff could not have been more accommodating; they served my lunch when I arrived and changed the treatment times... More

Had a "me time" package at the hotels Spa brought for me to enjoy. This includes a full body massage and full use of the Spa facilities. Also included was a two course lunch in the hotel.Having been before I knew what to expect from the hotel & Spa, small, relaxing and tentative staff, so enjoyed the massage, but the changing... More

We rolled up to this fabulous country house hotel that took us back to bygone days of splendour. What a fantastic setting and so quiet. The cream tea with still warm scones was to die for. We managed to drag ourselves to the spa and enjoyed a serene dip in the hydrotherapy pool and the foot spa and the fabulous... More

Just spent the weekend in the garden suite of The Mount for our anniversary. The room was big with a roll-top bath, huge shower, sofa and armchairs, the highest, widest and softest bed and the terrace with the table and hot tub. We had the big, fluffy robes, slippers and towels and a Nespresso maker, fruit and chocolates in the... More

We were due to stay at the Farmers Arms, but due to a total cock up on their behalf, we hadn't been booked in. Staff there were useless so we walked out! Fortunately, we stumbled upon the hidden gem which is the Mount Somerset. Wonderful in every way and we will definitely return

The staff walk around in a daydream and the reception staff are clueless. There are far better places to eat and stay in Taunton whilst visiting Somerset. The Mount Somerset is very expensive with no real added value to make you feel your staying in an exclusive hotel. If you like flushing money down the drain then I recommend the... More

We recently had an overnight stay at this hotel. Our room, which was a suite with a separate living room was comfortable and spacious. The only downside was that it was above the kitchen, so somewhat noisy late at night and early in the morning. Dinner was delicious and the chef took the trouble to cater for my dairy allergy,... We spent two nights at this hotel and on both evenings the food was superb, and sent out compliments to the chef. Our room was large and light with three huge Georgian windows and a sumptuously fitted bathroom. The room was called Langport (I think) with a four poster bed. The breakfasts were good and the staff efficient at all... More
