Foolishly, I chose this hotel for an overnight stay based on the photograph and the price of the room. I should have known better.... On arrival, I was bitterly disappointed with the first impression - the windows looked as if they would fall out with the slightest breath of wind, the paintwork was more shabby than chic - generally a... We booked this hotel reluctantly, having read some negative reviews. But it was inexpensive compared to others, had WiFi and was in a good location, so we booked it. We are so glad we did. The proprietors were as pleasant and helpful as they could be, the room was very nice and quiet. The beds and linen were clean and... More

When I turned up I thought the hotel had closed down. Window frames rotten and flaking paintwork everywhere, Weeds in the driveway and grass over a foot high - not a good first impression. The decor inside can at best be described as very very tired, The room was equally a tired and needed dusting, however there was clean linen... More

I cant comment on toehr rooms, but avoid room 2. this room abuts the road, and there is heavy traffic all night. got no sleep. The bed was soft and uncomfortable, and due to regular itching/ bites I had whilst in the bed, I suspect fleas. The sheet was dirty- looks like it trailed on the ground whilst being washed(... More

We wouldn't have stayed here based on the reviews but other members of our group chose the Falcon over the Premier Inn a few yards away, based on price. It is everything the reviews say - tired décor, patched up broken windows - but also a warm welcome and a great breakfast. The room was warm and quiet and the... More

Excelent management. The owner/manager is a very helpful person. Very good value for money. A little far from town centre. Taxi fares in Taunton are on the high side.

A warm welcome and a very good breakfast (could not fault it at all to be honest). Room was generally clean with comfy beds but the decor of the whole building requires a major update. To be blunt if you wish to time-travel back to 1976 then this the b&b for you otherwise travelodge it instead.

When we arrived we were a little surprised at the state of the exterior of the hotel. It looked quite frayed at the edges, as did the inside, but then we met the Graham, the host, all was forgiven. So hey, it is frayed at the edges but after being there for a short time we thought it added to... More

We read the other reviews and went ahead and booked anyway. The owner Graham is so pleasant and friendly it would be hard to offend him. We were made very welcome and shown to our room shortly after arrival. The room was spacious, quiet and with clean bedding and towels.Yes,one may say the place could do with a lick of paint. We need... I have titled my review, call it a day, because that (in my opinion) is what the owner of this establishment should do. People are turning up to this place expecting to stay in a idyllic country retreat judging by the photo in the ad. dont be fooled. the whole place is in need of a major structural and cosmetic...
