Nicely decorated clean, single room with a desk to work at and a view over the park . Grand old fashioned lobby and comfortable bar areas. My only gripes were the paper thin walls to the next door room , the fact that somebody in the corridor could switch off my bathroom light and the sealant mess around the shower... More

2 nights stay proved to be a very good decision. At every point, all the staff were friendly and helpful .Great breakfasts, dinners in Brazz and Bow both first class. The restaurants are very comfortable- and user friendly. there is a good choice of wines, plenty available by the glass, and very high quality ingredients used throughout. We ordered ,at... More

This is a proper provincial city hotel with personality. It is not a cool minimalist styled place with built in multi media gadgets everywhere - and nor does not pretend to be. Which is a good thing because this hotel has individual charm and atmosphere which is surprisingly hard to find. The service was genuine, warm and very competent, receptionist... More

Joined with 30 or more high profile Somerset business people last week for a private lunch in the main hotel building. Very disappointed. Food was OK, but several complaints re the quality of main course. However the service was abysmal. After being seated, took 1.25 hours to receive main course. No obvious overall management control, nobody asked if everything was fine... More

Upon arrival, receptionist was very pleasant with a warm welcome. Hotel had a lot of character. Room was huge, more then enough for one person, not complaining, because it is the best room I have stayed in for a long time. Very comfortable indeed. Hotel is ideally located in the centre of Taunton, 2 minutes from the shops. The only... More

Stayed here on our wedding anniversary. We also stayed on our wedding night although price has gone up in the 15 years since. Stayed in Brendan suite and is spacious with a huge, and I mean proper huge bed with view to the green and gardens also a nice large dressing area and bathroom. Had ordered roses and champagne for... Just the one night in our usual suite, as always a warm welcome from Reception. Dinner in the Castle Bow Restaurant, was exceptional, the mains of Turbot, arguably the King of fish, were beautifully prepared, with the lightest of touches.... Breakfast in the "Brazz" did not disappoint, with perfect eggs Benedict. The "Castle" always invokes a sense of well being,... More

Stayed at the castle over 30 years ago and had many memories of the hotel. The outside of the hotel is still magnificent and the entrance hall, reception area and interior of the hotel is just as I remembered .The big change was Brazz. Gone were the alcoves with the log fires etcetera to be replaced with a big modern eating and... More

We arrived at the castle and were met by an efficient and friendly receptionist who told us that our room had been upgraded to a suite. Since we had booked on a special deal this was very unexpected and very welcome. Unknown to the hotel we were celebrating a special occasion and the upgrade was the icing on the cake.... More

I stayed in a single room and was very pleasantly surprised at how spacious it was. The staff were welcoming, the decor is charming and the shower was wonderful! The location is great too, being in the middle of town and a 10-15minute walk from the train station. I would definitely stay here again!
