Stayed here for one night, the hotel has a great location on the high street with parking right in front of the hotel at £5 a night. The room was nice and large however bathroom a little stark and large slightly chilly, the heated towel rail was not on nor would work which would have just taken the chill off.... More

Excellent all round facilities and service including on site parking. Both the bedroom and bathroom were roomy and well equipped. Dinner and breakfast were excellent, I have already passed on my recomendations to others

Visited the Castle on the 28th January for Afternoon Tea and it was amazing. Fantastic tea menu, amazing cakes and sandwiches and a lovely setting. Our waiter was Luke who showed real passion for the job and was very knowledgeable. Nothing was too much trouble and we even had little bags to take away any cake we couldn't eat. Would... More

Second visit to the Castle and it somewhat grew on me, it's not one of the most plushest hotels in the UK and there is a slight whiff of the Fawlty Towers about it, but it does actually grow on you. First time I have used the Resturant which is actually very good. Food is excellent but not sure about... More

Good menu, great wine and cocktail selection. We were a little rushed from bar to restaurant but it was a Tuesday evening. Reasonable price for four people and 2 bottles of wine. Look forward to staying overnight sometime.

We loved the Castle Hotel. So nice to be in a completely independent hotel, run, as we discovered from the nice receptionist, for 60 years by the same family. The beautiful and majestic hall way and central staircase felt like a cross between a really comfortable country house and a museum. Interesting furniture and tapestries everywhere. Someone here has a... More

The Castle is a hotel steeped in heritage & which puts itself in the same bracket as Hotel du Vin & the like in terms of price. Unfortunately however, unlike these other establishments it just doesn't have the excellent customer service you need to be able to charge such high room rates. Asking for alternative tea in the room caused... More

Great central location with easy parking at the hotel or nearby car parks. We booked our mum's 80th birthday lunch in the Wisteria room and the Events team were very helpful during the planning process. They did not mind us coming early to set up our own decorations, iPod speakers and cake and provided a cake table and knife for... More

I was looking forward to a Christmas dinner and dance at the Castle, a glass of sparkling wine on arrival, a table full of friends, I was then told I could not sit next to my partner as it would upset the restaurant system, hmm thought I was the paying customer, I was then given probably the worst meal I...
