Anyone truly expecting four star luxury for £54 per night is kidding themselves! This hotel is cheap and cheerful and delivers excellent value for money. The decor in the room (block 3, room 11) and bathroom was dated although the bedding and curtains had obviously been updated and a modern painting added to try and give a more contemporary feel.... I was travelling up from London to Leeds and needed a clean, convenient, fair priced bed for the evening. The Midgley Lodge is all of these things. (I'm so glad i cancelled the Campanile having read their reviews and how disgusting it was)...i wasn't quite sure what time i was going to arrive as i was leaving London at 7pm and the... More

i was part of a weddding group , i was disappointed checking in took so long, there seemed to be only two members of staff running all depts, so i was standing at reception for way too long. The website said it provided safety deposit boxes, this is a joke , having tried 6 safes none worked , either didnt... More

Stayed here to be close to a wedding location so we could be on time. Motel was clean and tidy, and the staff were friendly and helpful. Breakfast was an additional 6.75. There was plenty of food to choose from, but avoid the full english, it was a bit greasy (not helped by the fried bread). Overall it was a... More

The Midgley is a quaint little motel set in the West Yorkshire countryside, just off the M1 and 10 minutes from Wakefield. The rooms are quite large and the staff are friendly. It's a little dated in terms of decor but the beds are comfortable and the rooms are very clean. There seems to be lots to do in the... More

Booking was simple and easy, one quick phone call direct to the motel (call answered almost immediately) and the room was booked along with the breakfast requirements. The location was easy to find – 5 minutes from the M1 and along the A637 at the cross roads in the small village of Midgley. There was parking available for all almost... More

Quite surprising after reading reviews about this motel. I stayed one night with my partner after a wedding at YSP. The location is good being only five minutes from Yorkshire Sculpture Park however there was no hot water throughout our stay meaning we had to get cold showers before the wedding. The manager did not apologise and was very unfriendly.... More

We stayed one night and arrived very late in the evening. We were greeted with a warm, relaxed welcome despite arriving very late after sightseeing all day. The room was HUGE as was the bathroom. We had an upstairs room which looked out onto the golf course and surrounding countryside - what a fantastic view. The bathroom looked a bit... More

Due to family being nearby we have stayed here twice a month for a few months now and, given some of the (in my opinion) rather unfair reviews, I've decided to add my comments. Midgley Lodge is a small friendly hotel very close to Junction 38 & 39 of the M1. On the doorstep of the Yorkshire Mining Museum and... More
