I like when traveling to support independent hotels rather than the sameness of the large national chains. So this is why I used this establishment. Pluses - good beer and the food was ok Handy for motorway Negatives Small room with a lumpy bed The bathroom light was a challenge had to pull the cord three times before the light... More

Had Sunday lunch here today and it was really lovely. Very good belly pork, lovely fresh vegetables and the best gravy I have had on a meal out in a long time! Booked a table on the internet which didn't work out - so it's best to give them a ring.

The reviews are over generous. There is a small bar with restaurant attached. Despite the advice that a table booking is necessary because of demand, this was evidently not the case during my stay. The food was strangely tasteless but OK - I couldn't understand the rave reviews. Room was fine but there appeared to already be a heating problem... More

As a table of 6 we arrived, sat at our table, after a short while we ordered our starters and mains. 4 out of 6 arrived, we had to ask a waitress for the other 2, 1 arrived and we told the waiter there's supposed to be another 1 so he went away and the final starter was brought. After... More

After driving down from Newcastle in the middle of storm Desmond the Mews Hotel was such a lovely end to our journey. Cosy and welcoming with a lovely feel, staff excellent, rooms great (especially the bathroom), comfortable bed. We ate in the restaurant, which again was great. Thoroughly enjoyed our brief stay, which was for my son's singing competition in... More

A group of 7 of us visited for dinner on a Saturday evening. We all had starters, mains and puddings. All the food was tasty and plenty of it. Service was good, staff friendly. The restaurant/bar area has a friendly, informal, warm atmosphere. Would definitely return.

We dined with 5 friends as we were celebrating a birthday. It was a Friday evening about 8pm. Note this restaurant is very popular and you do have to book as it is quite small. The Mews is a hotel with a restaurant and also has a popular public bar. We had a menu plus a specials board, my friend... More
