The purpose of our visit was the experience of seeing (and hearing) rhubarb growing. We also visited the Sculpture Park on the way . We were pleasantly surprised by the quality of this hotel. The rooms were very luxurious. The staff were very efficient welcoming and friendly. The food and beer were of a very high standard. Our only reservation... More

We visited The Mews on a Friday night for a meal, and we're very impressed. We arrived early and had drinks at the bar, which was nicely busy but we were served quickly, and given plenty of time to study the menu and specials board. The menu is just right - some great choices but not too many that it... More

My hubby and I went to the Mews for lunch and it was fabulous. The staff were really nice and very efficient. The place was packed to say it was Thursday lunch time we were surprised. We both had fish and chips as a friend said they were lovely so we thought we would try them for ourselves. We were... More

My first visit to this establishment. Very impressed. We went as a group of 20 from a local ladies group and eat in the private function room. Friendly staff and excellent service. Superb three course meal and coffee for £23.95. I enjoyed the terrine followed by the haddock wrapped in smoked salmon with prawns. Fresh vegetables were great along with... More

I have stopped here several times and it is always a pleaseure. The rooms are tiny, but very comfortable and the staff welcoming and friendly. There is plenty of car parking, although if you arrive during the evening they might be full of restaurant clients. The building is historic and charming, and the20th century extensions for the bedrooms quite in... More

I made the initial enquiry for availability and to book a room for two nights via e-mail, then phoned and made confirmed booking. No e- Mail conformation. I duly arrived and was pleasantly greeted and shown to my single room, on first impressions it looked good. On closer inspection it was very dusty shower and toilet facility were very small... More

Stayed on business for 4 nights. Room was small, but functional and clean. Staff were very good, polite, efficient and friendly. Food was excellent especially the homemade chicken pie and the fish and chips.

Booked into the Mews by phone a couple of months prior to going, no booking was registered when we arrived. However there was plenty of rooms available and the room we had was well decorated, good quality furnishings and bedding. Tea and coffee making facilities available, one small moan is the lack of coffee and milk sachets. Only six per... More
