Perfect location for us being slap bang in the centre of Wakefield and close to the music venue we were visiting that night. Checking in was really easy thanks to the great girl on reception who couldn't have been nicer or more helpful. Finding the stairs to our floor was bizarre as you have to push through the strangest and... More

Room not as described on booking, waited 90 minutes for our breakfast to be served, paid for an upgrade and room no different to the standard room, out friends had a wet patch on the floor in their room which was sorted by the staff covering with a towel, any complaints were shrugged off with contempt, the staff are to customer service what Gary... We spent two nights here and we will return. Room clean and comfortable, staff friendly and helpful and meals very good. Hotel very central for anywhere in the centre of Wakefield. Easy to park and then used the free bus to get around the various attractions.

Stayed for just 1 night and didn't have a problem. There were a few people staying in the hotel who were noisy after dark and the guy next door who came in at 3 am and put the TV on very loud for 15 minutes, but that isn't a fault of the hotel. Our windows opened and shut very easily... More

Stayed here for just one night and it looked great from the web page. I arrived on a Sunday evening and after ringing the bell for assistance was met by a chap who came across very abruptly and unhelpful. The financial transaction was his only concern. The hotel is located near the train station and next to a night club... More

If you are situated a stones throw from busy pubs that are open till 4am with loud music the least you could do is have windows that close properly. A lack of sound proofing spoilt this short break to the point that I slept for three hours on what was supposed to be a relaxing night away. The room not... More

My husband and I stayed one night with friends. On arrival the car park fees were going to cost us £10 to stay over night, until the small writing on the sign outside states free parking for residents. The receptionists gave my husband a parking slip to put on the dashboard. We stayed on the 2nd floor. The room was very... More

This hotel ( a few minutes walk from the Railway Station) has been refurbished and has extremely comfortable rooms. The hotel is well managed and the friendly staff try hard to ensure a successful stay. The hotel is convenient for a visit to the Wakefield Sculpture Park and the new Hepworth Museum, which can be reached via the Free Town... More

For the price, the location, the atmosphere and a few palatable wines it was superb. The staff were wonderful chatty but not intrusive and all clearly enjoying themselves without it coming to the detriment of their work. It downstairs was kept in good contemporary condition and really was rather smart in places. The bar was heaving when we arrived but... More

I have seldom been in a Hotel, anywhere, where the service has been so friendly and where they try so hard for you...they really couldn't do enough for you and nothing was too much trouble. The food in the Sloanes restaurant, attached to and actually part of the York House, where breakfast is served, is of really high quality, clearly... More
