Under new management and currently being refurbished. There was still no restaurant or breakfast available, but the room was clean and quiet, had everything I needed. The staff were friendly and helpful and the bed was comfortable, I had a room on 3rd floor with view of the Cathedral - quite pretty at night! Yes it is basic but i... More

I have stayed in many poor hotels but this one took some beating. Receptionist was a bit on the grumpy side and very curt. Got to my room and it was meant to be none smoking but stunk of stale smoke. It was warm in the room so I opened the window to find that I overlooked the main road... More

This Travelodge is in a very good location, there is a leisure centre just to its left, just opposite there is a taxi rank and quite a few bars also lots of shops, as you are almost in the town centre, Cathedral also in town centre, 10 minutes walk to train station about 15-20 mins walk to retail shops, it... It takes a lot to shut me up, but I'm almost lost for words after checking in to this Travelodge. I'm more than happy to stay in a budget hotel providing the room, however basic, is clean... just refreshed after the previous guests, it isn't a lot to ask for is it? It's a big ask here. The reception area... More

I stayed here for one night and while the facilities are adequate and the staff helpful, polite and courteous, the rooms are in desperate need of refurbishment. The walls were dirty with what looked like they had been sprayed with alcohol and the beds were uncomfortable.

Stayed here on a works night out as it was cheaper than a taxi home to Halifax. The rooms were very basic but clean, and did offer tea and coffee, as other contributors have written he hotel is looking very tired, and not set in the most desirable of locations, I would not like to have walked from here alone.... The hotel has a for sale board outside it which is not a promising welcome. Tiny reception area with very friendly staff. No restaurant so the "breakfast" comes in a box and is full of processed rubbish. It was extremely hot due to the "heat wave", but no air conditioning and it was not possible to open the windows due... More

Booked two nights to stay in this hotel, only stayed for one! Room was oppressively unbearably hot, no air con, no opening windows, had to drive home to sleep!! (Not even that hot outside!) Only about 4 parking spaces for a hotel with 50+ rooms. Room very minimal, bathroom smelled, bed linen dirty, only one pillow each provided- both flat... More

I have stayed at this hotel for business purposes mid week for the past 4 months. After researching what were prtetty basic hotels in the area i decided to settle on this one as although basic, was half the price of the other "so called" hotels with "alleged luxury" rooms. I'm not sure who the other people have been discussing... More
