The hotel wasn't great but what do you expect for £40 a night. Very clean and staff friendly and helpful. (especially the guy that let us use the phone and gave us a menu to order a take away at midnight). Very basic rooms. Mattress not very comfortable and also a lot of noise at night from the road outside.... More

the lodge was clean, the staff were first class, the location was next to the old A1 road. Transport to the town was approx. 500 yards away. The lodge was next to The White Horse hotel, which served good meals.

Stayed here with my mam a few times. Overall it's not bad, but there are some very rude staff. The bathrooms are quite small and very out dated. Not the cleanest either. Its just a very basic hotel. We were kicked out In the middle of the night for having guests in (although we were quiet and they were leaving... More

We needed a base for ten nights so we could drive out to visit Richmond, Thirsk, York etc and this hotel was just right for that. The double room we had, although a bit noisy as it overlooked the main road, was plenty big enough with enough space for clothes etc. Yes, the whole hotel is in need of a... More

We'd stayed here whilst visiting friends. The rooms are clean & the staff are really friendly. It's cheap & cheerful & fine for a night. The only complaint really is that the beds very soft and its not really comfy and if your near the lift its really loud.

Having read some bad reviews , we did not know what to expect from our stay. The place could benefit greatly from being upgraded, but having said that, the room was spacious, very clean, and comfortable. The staff were very friendly, and we enjoyed our stay there. The pub downstairs, served excellent breakfasts and was all we needed. Would return... More

I saw the reviews and did wonder - but £35 including 20% vat it's not the Savoy but it is value for money -free parking -friendly staff -I slept well and that's what you are paying for here -the room was large enough- the TV worked and it's only a £4 cab from the centre of town

Myself and two business aquaintaces stayed one night Sunday 15th March. We were welcomed by an extremely friendly receptionist, who made us feel very welcome after a 3 hour journey. The triple room we booked was very clean, warm and comfortable and good value for money. Will definitely be making a return visit next time in the area.

It says newly furnished now that's a joke the bathroom furniture is from the 80's with a cracked sink and dirty shower head, the also towels are stained. The hotel says they do breakfast but it's the pub next door that does.
