I had a great night at the Harrowgate Hill Lodge hotel in Darlington, we arrived early in the day as Chelsea fans travelling to see the Sunderland game and asked if we could book in later, the lady at the desk was very helpful and even said they could make our room a priority to clean so we could book... Chosen as we have two small dogs. Stayed for three nights in a fairly comfortable and good sized twin room. It was clean and room service was good. Breakfast was optional and continental at £2.50. Free car park. About 2 miles from town. The bar next door was OK for meals. Good value budget hotel without frills.

This Has got to be the dirtiest hotel I have ever stayed in, the room was outdated the bathroom had mould round the bath and the bath had stains in it. complained to the guy on reception who was clearly to drunk to care and he didn't want to know. I emailed the hotel regarding my complaint several times and... More

I booked here at very short notice and only place I could find that accepted dogs and a bonus that dogs where free of charge. My room although dated with a kettle system and hairdryer like none I had ever seen was ok, although whom I was with had a seperate room the kettle didn't turn off and their room... More

Seemed ok on booking in, but when getting out of lift you could smell damp. The room had mouldy carpet and the bed very low and mattress poor. Pillows too soft. Bathroom not much better. Doors slamming all night!! the staff were very pleasant and friendly. Needs investment for refurbishment I think it would be a lovely place.

This has to be the most filthy hotel I have ever stayed in , you had to see it to believe it I have the photographs to prove it, cobwebs I was like something out of great expectations and I am not joking. I would stayed but did not arrive until late and after an extremely long day and a... More

The staff were very friendly and as i arrived early my room was changed to one that was already cleaned. The room was large and spotlessly clean and looked like it had been decorated recently, the furniture was old but clean. The breakfast was a choice of unlimited cereals, toast, fruit juice and tea or coffee, for only £2.50. I... More

Stayed here as we were visiting friends close by. However, this was our second visit and I stupidly thought that things may have improved after mine and various other reviews from last time - it didn't!!! The room was clean but very dated - I don't think any decoration has been done for years, the lift was still out of... More

All the other "budget" hotels in Darlo were full so we had no choice than to book a two night stay at the Lodge. Leaving my wife at the family gathering I popped over to collect the room key. Didnt receive a very friendly greeting from the man behind the desk who just said your rooms on the 2nd floor... More
