We stayed here a few weeks ago. The hotel is in a fantastic location and the bar and restaurant area has fantastic views overlooking a mini marina. The staff were friendly. After viewing a couple of rooms we booked the four poster room for about £95, which again had fantastic views. The let down was the smell in the room,... more

Returned home yesterday after having spent a 3 night break at this hotel. I must admit we were rather apprehensive after having read the reviews on this site. However, we had a really enjoyable stay, our room was lovely having sea views on both sides, it was clean, bright and spacious. Tea and coffee in the room was replenished every... more

Bad service, expensive drinks (£3.60 a pint??), expensive food, expensive rooms. The food was minimal portions, with a high price tag, but low on quality, the rooms weren't clean. I cleaned the bathroom before I used it. The single worst experience of my life staying in a hotel. I thought I'd even get a ticket when I parked in the... more

I attended a wedding at the hotel last May with my wife and 3 month old baby daughter. When we booked we paid extra for a so called sea view suite so we had a larger room an a view of the harbour. On arrival a nice young lady checked us in and showed us to our suite on the... more

To be honest, after reading a few reviews about the Salterns Hotel I was unsure whether to book it or not, so phoned them directly and asked for a few bits of information. The receptionist was very friendly and told me everything I wanted to know, from types of food offered to a descrption of the bedroom views. I decided... more

Our welcome was less than impressive - wrong room (double, not twin) had been booked despite a message on my booking and a telephone call. The receptionist did not smile or appear enthusiastic about her job at all. The room was large (2 double beds) and had a spacious bathroom with shower and bath. The main problem with the room... more

This flat is a real let down and the owners are really wasting the potential of the place. It has lovely views over the harbour and is a really good size, with a large lounge/Dining room, a big Kitchen, three double bedrooms and two good size bathrooms, one of which is a shower room with a WC in it. Sadly... more

Just awful!!!! Rented the top 3 bed flat. It is tired, grubby, showers all mouldy, no shower water pressure, just a trickle, shower head broken in 1 of 2 bathrooms. Can't close bathrooom blind as strings missing. Power point improperly fitted. Some lamp bulbs not operating. Kitchen cupboards dirty, rusty old dishwashwer with broken rack. Sleeps 6 but not enough... more

I agree with the other reviews, the staff are poorly trained and customer service is non existant. The hotel is tired and it is also worth noteing that this hotel is animal friendly and although I love animals I was not happy when I was eating lunch with my husband and baby and there where dogs running about us. (three... more
