We booked one night here in august, and booked a night in the restaurant. My husband had a disagreement with the restaurant manager who was very rude indeed, and my the vibe I got off most staff was of general disinterest, apart from one pleasant happy lady working behind the coffee and drinks bar in the morning. The rooms are... More

We stayed three nights in a sea view room. In spite of its position over the garden and bar, it was very quiet, and as other reviewers have said, the views were magnificent. The weather was unusually hot for the UK, but without asking, fans were provided which kept our room (huge and south facing) very cool. We were delighted... More

We have nothing but praise for this harbour side hotel. There was a warm welcome from all the staff. A spotlessly clean and very comfortable and well appointed room offered magnificent views across to Brownsea Islad and the Purbeck Hills. Breakfast was plentiful served by smiling staff who were making families feel at home. There was a very good selection... More

Best to tread carefully in the Bar at Salterns, for fear of upsetting the locals and the boat folk as they don't take too kindly to holidaymakers entering their territory. Frankly, the bar service is poor and is not helped by the afore mentioned locals and boat people expecting to be served ahead of us holiday makers who wanted to... More

My mum and I ate here on a Monday evening. We ate in the bar and the food was delicious. We weren't rushed and nothing was too much trouble. We both had lasagne and we shared chips and garlic bread. We were too full for pudding unfortunately as they looked good. Cannot wait to go again!

Pros = This hotel is situated very nicely on Salterns Harbour & the sea view room we had was large and clean, bar is nice and outside table area was also nice being next to the water and boats.... Cons = Extemely poor service at breakfast time, we entered the restaurant which only had 6 other guests, we waited for... More

Needed a few days away for a relaxed break. This hotel met that brief. Great location for getting around. Had a side sea view room with a good view over to the spur out to Sandbanks. Lots of interesting activity in the harbour with the boats and kite surfers etc. The upstairs may show some signs of the age of... More

We thoroughly enjoyed our overnight stay in this hotel. It is modern, clean, bright and we were delighted to be upgraded to a room with dual aspect views over the harbour. It is in a great location if you enjoy gazing at boats and people enjoying themselves on the water. Of greatest delight to us was the welcome our two... More

After having a meal in the bistro at the week end I would not bother to return here. The view of the marina may be good ,but the food was of a pub standard but much more expensive. The staff were friendly but inexperienced ,having to check with the chef to answer simple questions about the menu . The chairs... More

I brought my friend here and we sat outside in the garden area, it was clearly busy however we did eventually find a table. The menu is extensive, and fine things seemed a little pricey. Once I ordered at the bar I was advised to pick up continents, a little disappointing that these are not brought to your table. The... More
