We ended up staying at Sandbanks hotel after being unable to travel abroad due to illness. Looking at some of the reviews on tripadvisor we were a bit weary. We stayed in room 108 a sea view room (no balcony) 2 adults and 1 child. The room was a nice size. The room could do with some updating. But the... More

We stayed two nights at Sandbanks. We had a family room (one main bedroom with double bed and a side room with bunk beds for the kids). Our room was comfortable and spacious. Our balcony faced out over the harbour and we had chairs and a table on the balcony. The view was stunning as the sunset. As well as... More

It's the stunning location, excellent service from the hotel staff and the superb kids club that make up for the fact that this hotel could do with a good lick of paint and modernisation. My son cut his foot on a loose tile in the swimming pool, which I wasn't impressed with. However, he thoroughly enjoyed the wide range of... More

This time was most definitely the last. We arrived at the hotel, checked in, had the keys handed over to us, and had to fend for ourselves to find our rooms: through the jungle of the kids' club with the organizers and their funky nicknames blaring through the microphones at children a mere few feet away, up the creaky stairs,... We pre booked an Afternoon cream tea for 3 as a birthday treat as the view from the terrace & reataurant is stunning . We arrived 10mins before the 4.00pm booking to be told by various staff to go to the bar to order . The bar staff sent us back to the inside bar. The girl behind the bar... More

Had a family weekend and the place as far as location goes was perfect. The staff did their best but there was an under current of poor management. The hotel itself is past its sale by date and in need of significant renovation. It relys 100% on its unique location so have low expectations on room quality. Best rooms are... More

This place needs a good clean! Everything is unclean, the staff are amateur, all signs of poor management and no discipline ! You need to check your crockery, cutlery and the furniture you use for fear of using the last persons experience! The patios are covered in sand and albeit it's by the beach it's no excuse for poor standards!... More

Setting is fantastic and beach and outside areas are kept very clean and tidy. Staff throughout hotel were very friendly, helpful and efficient. In places the hotel is very tired and in need of a face lift to warrant the prices. The thing that really spoilt our stay was the noise though. Kids running down the corridor (it is very... More

I have to say we were very sadly disappointed with the Hotel - we arrived early so we could have lunch on the terrace as the sun was shining - the tables were dirty and there was no sign of them being cleaned before we ordered - we ordered drinks at the bar and then our food - half way... More

We have been coming here with grandchildren for 10 and yes the common parts are a little tired but the rooms, especially the harbour view rooms with separate room for children are great. I take exception to comments about the staff which are always helpful and I have never seen the reception unattended. We have booked for next year.
