I would recommend this bed and breakfast. It beats any big hotel chain hands down. Great location and very friendly and the room was spotless. And David makes the best breakfast in pool, fit for a king.

I found this fantastic B&B at random on Late Rooms, and how glad I was that I found it! I walked from the station (about 10 mins) and David was looking out for me as I arrived - the house is a lovely Georgian house in the road behind the Quay, but blink and you miss it (well, I did!).... More

Lovely room, spotlessly clean and really comfortable. Really close to the harbour and David the owner was really helpful when I arrived, he helped with directions and kept me a parking space literally outside and met me to take my bags ! Couldn't have asked for better. Would recommend to anyone staying for business or work.

We were on a weekend break and needed some where central and after checking the usual Sandbank over priced shabby chic settled on the Merchant B&B. Checked in online, no issues on arrival straight up to a room which was light and clean, small but functional. The bed was fine but the pillows were a bit hard, the shower worked... More

This was my first stay in a B&B and if they are all as nice as this then I am converted ! The Merchant House really is beautiful and David was so lovely and welcoming. The room was fantastic and spotlessly clean (I am a bit fanatical as well) and the breakfast was amazing. My friend and I had a... More

I don't usually stay in B&B's, preferring hotels with a restaurant because I'm a lone female travelling for business. I booked the Merchant House because I wanted to be by the quay rather than in the town centre where most of the chain hotels are located. I turned up at 5pm after a business meeting to be greeted by David... More

We stayed at The Merchant House with friends for my husbands birthday. We were supposed to arrive early afternoon but my husband was taken ill and subsequently we didn't get there until 7pm. The owner David was fantastic, he made sure we had a parking space kept available and was very friendly when we eventually turned up. We were shown... More

I found myself in need of accommodation in Poole, late one evening, after a minor crisis at work, that meant I had to stay over in Poole, in order to finish my contract the next day. After phoning all the usual suspects... IE..Holiday Inn, Thistle, Premier Inn, all to no avail! I found The Merchant House. Fortunately, they had a... More
