Stayed here for 2 nights whilst on a training course within the same hotel. I was impressed with the service, the bar/restaurant has obviously been updated as the hotel harks bark to the 60's/70's I guess. I found the service excellent, check in/out efficient. The food was of a good quality, and the atmosphere good. I was upgraded to an... more

How they can justify the price of this place is beyond me. I booked over the phone directly and agreed a price for a double room with a breakfast. The next day i was charged over 10 pounds extra for the breakfast, when i informed the receptionist she was quick to reply "I can't do anything" a statement which sums... more

Stayed here on business for one night. Staff were really friendly and helpful and had a very good dinner in the restaurant. Had a four-poster, execuitive room at the front which was really nice, but the bathroom was a bit dated. Also, there was a party on and guests stood outside in the carpark talking loudly, but there's air con... more

I was lucky enough to attend the new year Eve bash at the thistle hotel. The room were old the bathroom small and 1970's style but the party was great. Music up to 5am, breakfast until 1pm! friendly staff too. Many thanks. See you next year!! more

I attended a dinner/xmas celebration at this hotel with concern having read the other reviews. I wish I had stayed at home. In fact it was so bad I can't even be bothered continue. Try the other hotels in the area there are plenty of them offering much better service and value. more

2 nights B&B booked - 1st night there was a charity dinner,& because of this a substandard buffet dinner was put on for residents, starters were poor with no cold meat/fish to go with salad. main courses, a choice of three, were lukewarm and dry with no apparent sauce or gravy present. Charity dinner guests seemed to have a good... more

The Thistle Hotel Stevenage Herts (The Blakemore) June 25th 05. My son had his wedding at the Blakemore so I booked rooms for the family members who had a long journey. The cost of a room B/B £80. It is a pity the high prices do not match the service. To start with there is no porter or lifts. I... more

I agree with the dreadful reviews this hotel has received. We stayed for two nights, a party of 7 adults and 2 small children. We booked two double rooms, three single rooms and a family room. The first night went well, except it was spoilt at night in the lounge by the drunken overspill from a corporate function over the... more

We stayed at the thistle for one night in february 2005 as we were attending a function there. Upon checking in i found that the room we had booked was a double. I had booked a twin as father and daughter guests. I had also to pay extra for this privilege. We were advised that they would move us to... more
