We stayed here in March and thoroughly enjoyed it.
Abbey Lodge is a Victorian guest house decorated tastefully in the style. The building itself is beautiful with high spacious rooms and large bay windows dowstairs.

When we arrived we were given our pick of the rooms - all of which were beautifully decorated with period touchs and quaint hospitality trays.

Janet recommended the Empire Hotel for our evening meal which was a short walk away. To be honest, I was not expecting much as I thought it would be a bit unsuitable for us (both in our early twenties) but I was extrememly impressed!
We were seated in the poolside restaurant and a 3 course meal and carafe of wine for less than £20 each.

Our cooked breakfast was lovely with a nice selection of cereals, yoghurts and juices also available. The only downside for me was eating it round a large table with other guests - but that might not bother other people - I am just not my best first thing in a... more
