Instantly inviting, this 300-year old charmer, set in extensive grounds makes you forget that you are just ten minutes amble from the centre of town. We were partly drawn here because this manor was the home of the wonderful illustrator of children books, Mable Lucie Atwell. Our lovely duet hosting offered hospitality , which should be a benchmark in the... More

An unexpected high-light to an already spectacular weekend. From the car park at our arrival to the same car park at our departure we were made to feel hugely welcome. Staying here was like staying with family or good friends, the atmosphere was relaxed, genuinely warm and very welcoming. As for the accommodation, we had the number 1 room and... More

This is a beautiful home in which Wendy welcomed us as honoured guests. The room was absolutely beautiful, as was the cake! The gardens defy description - you have to go and see them. We were there at an emotionally sensitive time (for us) and we received empathy and genuine concern. We will return to this exceptional home.

when approaching the house, there is nothing spectacular you will see. but this is fine. Wendy has a nice old manor house, but what we really found spectacular is her garden. this is a small part of heaven with cosy places to sit and enjoy a cup of tea or read - or more up to date to check the... We have been staying with Wendy and David since 2005 and can't speak highly enough of the hospitality they provide. This is just what you always dream a B & B can be. The welcome is warm and friendly, the rooms are wonderful, the food is fresh and home cooked. In fact, the offering is flawless. Wendy and David love... More

Wendy and David, your hosts at this outstanding B&B, have worked so hard on their garden to bring it up to a standard featured on a BBC Chelsea programme. This hard work is carried over into the B&B which is far better than many 5 star hotels. Nothing is too much trouble whether you need a taxi ,restaurant or two... More

All we read in other reviews about Ocklynge Manor are true - this truly is an exceptional B & B. Everything about our stay was perfect. Wendy and her husband have created a wonderful and tranquil establishment. Wendy greeted us with tea and home made cake and showed us to our fabulously spacious suite with separate dressing room, en-suite and... More

Worth a detour, indeed. Wendy and her husband have created a very special oasis. We arrived from an 8-day trek on the South Downs Way. She greeted us in pearls and her gardening apron and immediately brought us tea in a silver tea service with homemade cake in the oriel overlooking her remarkable garden. The decor, from beige linen slipcovers... More

My husband and I stayed here the night after our wedding. We got married just outside of Eastbourne and as we don't live in the area we wanted somewhere nice to stay that wasn't too far away. I booked Ocklynge Manor after reading all the 5 star reviews on Tripadvisor, and it certainly lived up to expectations. Not only are... More

They say" leave the best for last "when travelling back home.,which is exactly what we did. I feel in love with the gardens before we arrived and was certainly not disappointed with our choice of 2 nights in Eastbourne. We had travelled the way down from the Lake District and the minute we arrived we were greeted by dear Wendy who...
