Just joining the ranks of the seriously impressed to say that our few days at Guesthouse East were fantastic. Carl and Sarah manage to strike the balance between being keen to help and giving you space to yourselves, the rooms are magnificent, and the breakfasts plentiful (although beans might be a nice addition to the full English). Also, when we... More

We spent two nights in April in a lovely room with a sea view. Carl and Sarah couldn't have been more helpful, as this was our first visit to the area. The breakfast was convenient and hearty before a day of hiking. The guest house is situated half a block from the boardwalk, 5 mins to buses that dropped us... More

Hi there I have to live a little vicariously these days as things are pretty busy here with the guesthouse so I was really pleased we could help you get out on your adventures :) I followed one of your walks up Beachy Head and along the Seven Sisters yesterday which really does takes some beating! Hope all your photos... More

Sarah and Carl are a very welcoming and friendly couple. We travelled as a group of 5 and stayed for 2 nights at their beautiful guesthouse. The rooms are very tidy and contemporary furnished. The breakfast was fantastic as well, relaxing music, good choice of food and the freshly cooked porridge was delicious. The value for money is unbeatable and... More

Hi Alexander Thanks for finding time for the review and the lovely feedback - it's hugely rewarding to hear our efforts are appreciated - and that the porridge is still hitting the spot! Great to have you guys around - hope to see you all again Carl More

A friendly & warm greeting on arrival & we were grateful rooms were ready early after our 27 hour journey! Rooms were tastefully decorated, bathroom & kitchen exceptionally clean, & the kitchen facilities came in very handy during our stay. Very hospitable & lovely hosts, & nothing was too much trouble for Carl & Sarah. Would highly recommend!

Thank you Jacqueline for helping out potential guests with your warm feedback. The least we could do after your 27 hour journey was to provide you with some refreshments and early access to your room. Still, it's amazing what a nice cup of tea and a nap can do to revive you, eh?? Thanks again Carl More

Warm welcome from the moment we got in touch and all the way through our stay. Sarah and Carl have got a lovely set up. Good location, nice rooms, very relaxed. They couldn't do enough for us. Thanks x

This is a nice no frill place for a weekend, the owners are lovely people, very family friendly place. You will be advised on best things in Eastbourne, nice places to eat and things to do with the little ones. The rooms are very spacious and clean the bathroom was really great. Overall a good experience, simple but charming.

Hello there Thanks for finding time for the review and also the kind words. We've always tried very hard to keep things simple here - to offer spacious, immaculately clean and well equipped rooms, backed by attentive, but relaxing service and thankfully it seems to work well. We try to let the location and historic building take most of the... More

Our family of four stayed at the guesthouse east for one night. Although their was a mix up with the reservation, our room was sorted out promptly and we felt catered to. The breakfast was wonderful: a healthy porridge perfect for my husband who was off to run in a grueling race in sleet and wind. We had left in... More

What an exceptional find. A gorgeous Georgian house, seconds from the sea with a kitchen big enough to cook an evening meal in. (If you make breakfast you will miss out on Carl's famous full English and that would be a tragedy!) Really friendly welcome from Sarah and Carl and nothing is too much trouble for them. Thank you Bree for your fab feedback. Many of the internal walls have been removed here (not an easy task when you're Grade II-listed) to create the space for each of our suites so it's lovely to hear that all the efforts weren't in vain :) We've always thought that since holiday time is so precious, we should make every... My second visit to The Guesthouse East. I stayed in room 7 which was a lovely big room for a family of 4. Decent sized bathroom & a fab cooked breakfast. Arrived very late for one night stay. Hosts very kindly arranged for keys to be left out, all went like clockwork. Kitchenette very well equipped, bathroom a bit DIY with lots of notices about how to use it properly and avoid floods. Not quite the boutique finish you might expect from other reviews, but nice enough in a homemade sort... More
