Couldn't extend our stay at The Grand for another night due to lack of availability - thank goodness! For £40 less we got a suite on the 3rd floor front so we could watch the boats from bed. As opposed to The Grand where we were stuck in a pokey attic-type room at the back overlooking houses and a homeless... more

Loved my stay here, old fashioned but pleasant, friendly, clean and efficient. Stick to B&B though, there are better restaurants just around the corner. more

I stayed at the Landsdowne as I was en route for work - to sum it up, it was ok. The main problem that I had with it was the lack of air conditioning - it was BOILING! The windows had to be open all night to air the room. Location is good, on the sea front so close to... more

Read previous reviews on tripadvisor before booking this place. "What a Gem" really is an understantement. Do you like hotels of a bygone era? - then this is the place for you. Eastbourne should be lined with cars from the 50s and 60s as it still has a grand charm reflecting these times. This hotel, next to The Grand reflects... more

I had originally intended to stay at the Grand Hotel. I went there for an afternoon drink / snack about two years ago and really enjoyed it. When I got there I managed to negotiate a good discounted rate at the reception of just over £100 for two of us in a room with sea view and breakfast included. However,... more

My boyfriend bought me tickets to a play in Eastbourne, not realising it was the over 65s capital of Britain. I had to search for a hotel in Eastbourne and from the outside I thought I'd picked the best of quite a bad bunch. I don't know whether they think as your eyesight declines so do your standards...Anyway, it's like... more

firstly i have to say the staff and service at this hotel are fabulous, your made to feel really welcome and things like afternoon tea in the lounge is a real pleasurable experience.the hotel itself is an old place but thats its charm, the rooms are of a byegone era with creaking floorbords etc, quite charming after some of the sterile modern hotels... more

Stayed on a business trip. Dark room at back of hotel. Although the restaurant wasn't busy had to wait an hour for a grilled steak, which was the worst I've ever been served in a hotel. more

Went away for a Valentine's weekend break with fiancee. Found hotel through Active Hotels website. From the moment we stepped into the hotel till the moment we left we had a fabulous time. Our room was on the 3rd floor with amazing views of the sea and the pier. It was a huge room with one double bed and a... more
