Paying £100 a night for a double room, I was expecting something really nice. The room was at the back of the hotel with a view onto a Car Park. There was zero ventilation in the Room and it was stifling hot even with both the room and bathroom windows wide open. The beds have Blankets !!! This is the... More

Check in fine. Parking on the street costs £1 with a card from the hotel. Complimentary upgrade to sea view which was pleasant surprise. A very hot day with heat wave temperatures so my room was hot even with both windows open but we don't often get such heat waves. Traffic and seagulls a bit noisy at 6 in the... More

We spent some days at Lansdowne and overall we were satisfied. The hotel has an atmosphere, the location is perfect and staff is kind and helpful. Prices are more than adequate, rooms are clean. Our room wasn t very big. The bathroom and especially the bathtube need improvement. Also breakfast could offer a wider choice. Anyway a reccomendable hotel, especially... More

We stayed for just one night, and as a young(ish) couple in our 40s found we had stepped back in time. The hotel staff were very attentive and can't be faulted but the hotel itself is not what I expected. Has a feel of an old people's home to it and is not somewhere I would really recommend for a... Thank you for your review. Glad to hear that overall you enjoyed your stay. We are a traditional hotel and we are always maintaining our guest facilities to a high standard. But being such a large hotel there is always something to do. I take on board your comments regarding the signs! We have some beautiful seaview facing rooms, Im... More

I spent three days here with my 90 year old Dad. It ticked all the boxes for him. Although it was quite creaky underfoot, but then it is an old building. Very large with lots of places to sit and enjoy cream teas. The staff were all very pleasant and happy to help with anything. The breakfast was great and... More

Thank you for your review. Happy to hear that you and your Father enjoyed your stay with us. We are indeed an old building but pride ourselves on how well maintained we are and many people comment on this. Eastbourne does have alot of retired people living here and we do have an elderly clientèle - but not all the... More

Stayed here for a couple of nights whilst playing golf around the Eastbourne area. Check-in was a bit worrying because the receptionist seemed to have trouble finding our names, always a bit of a worry ! I stayed in a single room. It was nicely presented, and very clean. The room was of a reasonable size and the bed linen... More

Thank you very much for your kind review. I am pleased that you mentioned so many things that made your stay enjoyable. Our lift was only mentioned yesterday and I agree it is small! We do have two and the other is more roomy! Sorry check in was a bit of a worry - glad we got there in the... More

Stayed at the Landowners for 3 nights, we were very comfortable. The staff were ood, the food was good too. Breakfast was buffet style, which was OK. Evening meals were good quality. Our only gripe is that we were in a room next to the lift which was old and noisy, especially at 6 in the morning when some of... More

We went for morning Coffee to this hotel because they had an advert outside. When we got inside we were told to sit down and nothing happened,my husband then went to reception and the lady asked us what we wanted , eventually we had a plate of biscuits and a pot of burned coffee which was awful. The foyer had some... More

I have to say this review supprises me! If you take the time to look back over our reviews, you will see that one of the most mentioned things is how friendly and helpful our staff are. Husband and I had 5 day coach holiday in June, and we have nothing but praise for the Hotel. The staff were really lovely, and never heard a bad word from the rest of our party either. Official Description (provided by the hotel)
The Best Western Lansdowne Hotel is privately owned and has been in the same family ownership since 1912. It is this that has given the hotel a personal touch that is still very evident today. We are flattered that so many guests express their appreciation of this fact. The Hotel occupies a premier position on the uncommercialised seafront overlooking the Western Lawns and Wish Tower with splendid views of Beachy Head and the sea. ... more   less
