I have stayed at this hotel many times during the past twenty years, mainly when travelling on business. I cannot recommend it to highly, not only for the friendly welcome, but also for the comfort and beauty of the rooms. The food is always excellent and served professionally. I cannot speak too highly of this traditional family hotel. More

We recently stayed at the hotel as part of a group. The staff were really goodm friendly and helpful. Our superior room was also good. We only bhad one dinner at the hotel and the food was let down by the lack of adventure in the vegetarian option (my wife is a vegetarian). Thsi was rather bland and appetizing. I... More

We stayed at the Lansdowne hotel- had had problems trying to use their website which wouldnt load properly, so we just arrived on the day and were offered a superior room with sea view at a lower rate of 105 pounds- room 328. Although a little tired, the room had 4 huge windows which all opened completely, so the view... More

I stayed at the Lansdowne for 2 nights at the end of March and had room 316 (superior sea view). I was impressed by the room size and decor - it was very nicely appointed and on the third floor with a nice view of gardens and the pier in the distance. Despite arriving 2 hours before normal check-in, my... More

Stayed here three times now, and as before it was a good nights stay - comfortable room - and, unlike some rooms in some hotels its got great lighting, you can actually read a book without sitting under the bedside lamp! The bar food is ok but the breakfast is one of the best you will get anywhere. If you... More

I was pleased to read that you enjoyed your recent stay with us, being your third visit to the Lansdowne. I was also delighted that you consider our breakfast to be “one of the best you will get anywhere”. However, I was concerned to read your comment regarding one of our Receptionists being unhelpful. This is certainly not the standard... More

Arrived at late notice as another hotel had let us down. The hotel is right on the seafront and has parking spaces in the road right outside. You can get an all day parking permit for the road outside the hotel from reception for £1. Room 309 was a newly refurbished room on the top floor. Clean, spacious, warm (even... More

Room 224 I believe is one of the refurbished rooms with uninterrupted views of the sea. I found the room spacious and clean with a comfortable bed, not slept under blankets for quite some time though. The bathroom was compact with mouldy sealant apart from that it again was very clean. Flat screen tv with a selection of channels and... More

Thank you for your kind comments, however, I am sorry that you were disturbed by the sounds of other guests in their rooms. The hotel has been owned by the same family for 100 years and the building is somewhat older than that. The advantage of its age is the character it contains – the disadvantage is the noise from... We booked this hotel for a special occasion family Sunday luncheon, and stayed for days before and after in the hotel. From the moment we first started communication prior to arriving, I felt we were dealing with true professionals. Once we arrived this was more than confirmed. The staff were at all times very helpful, and attended to all our... More

I recently went for lunch at the Lansdowne and was appalled at the quality of food and service received. The food was cold and the potatoes hard, and the staff were unhelpful, with limited grasp of the English language. Drinks orders were continually wrong and a staff member was sarcastic and rolled his eyes when I informed him of the... More
