The Ellesmere Hotel is situated at the western end of Eastbourne town, a good ten minutes' walk into the centre but right in the heart of the theatre district, Tennis Courts and Eastbourne College. Brilliant, if that is where you really want to be. The front rooms look out on to Wilmington Square, a large grassed area with a shrubbery... More

Staff are friendly & helpful. We wanted to walk to seven sisters national park when we arrived & the receptionist offered us a local map & bus timetable & explained the best route there. Room was large, spacious & comfortable. Hotel is a stones throw away from the beach & very cheap.

A fairly late booking in order to see a show at the Congress Theatre turned out to be unexpectedly pleasant with a comfortable room and excellent breakfast. I had requested a ground floor room which in the event also had its own entrance with no steps. The owner, Peter, was attentive and made us feel most welcome. Comfortable beds with... More

Great stay, great hospitality, very quiet, best sleep in ages. Breakfast yummy and plentiful. Yes decor could do with a revamp, but don't let that deter you from this great rarity of a find. Definitely stay again. Thanks Peter!

Special thanks to Peter who was very nice to us and made us feel comfortable. I didn't have big expectations when I booked the room, I got exactly what I paid for. He was nice enough to place us on a top floor so we can see the sea from our room. The rooms are not big, I knew that... More

We were shown where to park free, and then the manager carried our luggage to our 'dog friendly' room. He was very warm and welcoming and asked us if we would like any bowls or anything for our dog. We asked about breakfast because as we travel a lot, we understand that dogs are not allowed in the dining room,... More

Ok so the hotel is very dated but it's lovely. The host was so friendly and helpful when we arrived and made is feel welcome. We stayed with a baby and a dog and they accommodated this perfectly. The location is great, easily accessible to restaurants and the sea front. Had a really good quiet nights sleep even on a... More

Holiday soured by very poor food. It was outsourced early morning then microwaved. Lift broken on second day leaving 72 yr old father to climb 3 flights of stairs. Very poor lack of local knowledge by the host. Will not recommend.

Rooms need updating. Furniture poor probably came from fire-sale.Winter duvets on bed in July. Bedside lamps missing. 7 foot bed in small room. Sliding doors which had to physically lifted. Room 14 shd be avoided, we changed! We stayed 7 days which was 6 too many (sgd) Bill Edwards) Proprietor does not live on premises unfortunately Excellent breakfast
