Blame it on the poor house numbering system, 547J is not anywhere near 547K. Tugged away along a small lane, the bungalow has a backyard with a door to the beach. Don't expect a Waikiki but rather rustic disorder. There is a bus stop along the main road and have services going into Georgetown and Ferringhi. The rooms are spacious... More

There were 12 of us and four children traveling together and we managed to get a good rate for the entire bungalow. It was perfect for us, enough space for the kids and adults to lounge around, with a TV room, mahjong set and big comfy sofa. The rooms are spacious and bathrooms are new and clean. The location is... More

My family and I found Chymes through booking.com. Recommended access by car would be most convenient. We stayed in the Studio, very spacious, able to accommodate about 5 people comfortably, with about 2-3 people sleeping on the floor. Kitchen is open for use (microwave, stove and fridge are available). There is access to the beach and a games room which... More

Our company had a dinner party and booked the whole hotel for the event. The grounds were spacious enough for us to have various activities. The main selling point of Chymes are its uniquely themed rooms, which are all fabulous to stay in! The house owners have not forgotten to provide the small stuff that are so easily forgotten, such... Both my wife and I decided to spend our last 3 days of year 2013 in Penang and decided to stay in Chymes. I must say that my personal experiences for this whole stay were great. We given a room facing the sea thus we have the sea waves as our back ground music. Though there were other visitors in... More

Our family spent a night at Chymes. It was kind of disappointed. The room is a bit run down, hanging lights were full of dust, PU from the bed was peeling off. Cats running around in the living hall, and no slippers provided to guests. The beach is dirty, chickens and dogs were running around the beach. The worst thing... More

Honestly this is the best hotel ever! I really feel like home. Unique room design, warm and friendly service, private... We were the only visitors at that point of time so we get to enjoy the whole house. It's just awesome!

Had a chance to stay one night at Red Chamber room this weekend. From outside this place is not very looked like a hotel, but when took a step inside, it is so charming and nice. The owner(Vivian) is so friendly and always asked us if we needed anything. First class stay for us. Thanks Chymes

We were very lucky to have been able to booked this place. Most of the hotels in Penang were fully booked during the Raya Weekend. Chymes is very quaint B&B in the Tanjong Bungah area. It's sandwiched between the popular Batu Ferringhi beach and George Town (It's probably is 20-30 minute ride each way). Getting to this place is a... More
