Booked this hotel for a valentines treat, when we arrived my first impression was wow, what a lovely house with lots of character, the staff were very welcoming and took us to our room, which was upgraded not known to us, to a fab four poster bed with rose petals! The bathroom was lovely and plenty of hot water. The... More

Ate at the Seafood Bistro with some friends and were pleasantly surprised by the quality of the food , which was very good. The restaurant has been refurbished, and they were quite busy when we visited. The front of house lady was efficient and professional , but the waitresses , whilst friendly , require further training. Prices are not cheap especially... More

This is an old building and, although some minor refurbishment has occurred downstairs, the upstairs accommodation is extremely tired and is certainly not 3*. The staff are lovely and the breakfast excellent, but a coat of emulsion,a cheap carpet, and replacing the old marked furniture does not constitute refurbishing a bedroom.

We stayed here with lots of our family, on what was a sad occasion. The hotel is calm, comfortable and caring with a staff that are seriously intent on making sure that you are looked after. The food is excellent, with the chef flexing the menus to suit us - as there was a lot of late arrivals . We... More

We compliment the staff for the warm , friendly and efficient way that we were made to feel welcome......especial thanks to Julia,Sue,Alex and Amy. The highlight was the dinner we had on the evening of arrival.....the quality of the food was first class. Altogether a first rate and memorable experience.

My 70th Birthday celebration was held at the Norton House Hotel on January18th 2015 together with family and friends and it was fantastic. The venue was beautiful, warm and welcoming, the food & service was superb and the Management and staff were extremely helpful & courteous. It couldn't have been better. My family & friends were also very impressed. I... More

- Totally worn out spring mattress - Smelly rooms (damp, old carpets and fish from the restaurant) - Dirty bathroom with a used razor full of hair - Creaking pipes very noisy all night - Room was really cold and had to complain to eventually get the heating turned on - Sagging floor board (presumably rotting) - Underwelming breakfast with... Booked through booking.com, it was misdescribed as having wifi in the rooms (very important when your travelling with a teenager!) and a gym! Neither of these were available. Shown to the room and for £102 was terrible, small, cramped, rather shabby and to be honest quite dirty, there was even a tide mark on the bath! .......... I did complain... More
