Byrkjedalstunet was a great place to stay on our way to Stavanger from Telemark and Setesdal. The hotel's location surrounded by mountains complements grass-roof buildings on the property, as well as goats, and its traditional restaurant. The breakfast included with the room offered a great selection. The modern style room with two twin beds that we stayed in was very... More

nice and cozy restaurant / hotel in the middle of almost nothing. Whilst travelling across norway in that area, it is a good place to sleep. Very nice beds, warm, nice breakfast. Modern structure, friendly staff. Perfect internet

Nice rooms with modern village design. All you need from apartments. Warm to sleep with heater. Quite. Great view in the morning - waterfalls and roofs with grass. Not so many guests in August. Key was keeped in storage room with clear directions how to find it. Breakfast not bad. Staff friendly. Minus: 1) Was not easy to find. We... More

Wonderful hotel in the middle of nowhere. Beautiful rooms and WONDERFUL beds and linens. Breakfast is included, which alone probably pays for the rooms as food in Norway is so expensive. Only negative is that it was a bit hot at night in the summer - a fan would have been nice.

Fabulous location. Accommodation interesting and spotlessly clean. Breakfast outstanding. Hospitality really nice. Dinner was disappointing - perhaps it would be better when the season starts and the kitchen is really going.

We stayed here with 3 children on our travels. This place is wonderful. It is very traditional, but the accomodation is modern, the beds are very comfortable. Bathrooms very clean. The dining room is nice. Food traditional, comforting. We turned up for breakfast a bit late, so the choice was limited. Staff friendly. Gift shop is huge. Nicest souvenirs in... More

Byrkjedalstunet is a bit off the beaten track. (GPS position N58.77990 E6.31684). It is on route 45, which leads through valleys and over mountains. Closed in winter! As a hotel it is unusual in that the rooms are in individual small and old houses, collected from the surrounding area. The insides, especially the bathrooms, are very modern, though. And, there...
