The hotel is beautiful, decked out in what looked like antiques and with lots of lounge areas to get some peace and quiet. The room was lovely, with a spacious bathroom and it was very clean and well-maintained. We had a lovely balcony where we watched the sun go down. We received some great advice about where to hike and... More

The Torvis Hotel is a superb mix of classic European hunting lodge decor in the common rooms--complete with books, fireplace and dining hall, and even a stuffed bear--and the ultra-modern 37 guest rooms with full-height window views of the Lustrafjord. Among their many features, the rooms have excellent heating and cooling systems which keep the room temperatures quietly constant to... More

The Torvis is truly a gem in the fjords: beautiful, gracious, and full of enchantments ranging from the personal family-run service to the exquisite cuisine and spectacular setting. We had an amazing stay for a group of 34 for a special birthday event. We pored over on-line reviews and finally chose Marifjora and Torvis for its location and proximity to... More

Totvis is a small, charming, and luxurious boutique hotel. It seems like a relais et chateaux on a fjord. The staff goes out of their way to accommodate your every possible need. The restaurant offers gourmet meals--rare in Western Norway.. Other hotels near the fjords are packed with tour groups- The Torvis, by contrast, is a secluded hideaway. Stay here.

This hotel provides Service with capital S. All I can say, that owners and staff several times showed us a very high level of thing, which is called Service. I'd like to thank Siv, Stig, Kjell and all the staff for assistance and all the "little things" which made our stay unforgettable. The hotel itself is conviniently located on the... More

Torvis hotel is a little hidden diamond close to the impressive Jostedalenbreen. The service of the young owners was just perfect. Always with a smile and no question was too much. We had wonderful lunch and pastries from their little cafe next door served in the garden of the hotel! After a delicious dinner you can enjoy tea in the... More

Breakfast: Yes, yes, yes. everything you need for a stay in Norway, and positively encourage packed lunch making, which is a Norwegian tradition, hated by most hotels in the european alps. Hotel history and sustaining this history is one of their biggest selling points. Yes some of the carpet looks a bit old, and some parts of the hotel look... More

Hotel was absolutely incredible. Located in a very small village directly on the fjord with beautiful views. Many outdoor activities nearby such as hiking the glacier and kayaking. The food at the hotel was outstanding. They had a prix fixe menu each night. Service was friendly, attentive, and courteous. Quiet and peaceful this was an ideal location to explore the... More

We stayed five days here and had a wonderful time. The beautiful hotel has been kept up and is very comfortable. The owners are the great great grandkids of the original owner, and hotel management is in their blood. They were very helpful in accommodating us and scheduling activities. They scheduled a day of kayaking and a day of glacier hiking... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed June 15, 2015

I went there last summer with my wife who was pregnant and we stayed four nights. It was the perfect holiday, very relaxing, great nature, kind personnel, great view on the lake. The restaurant is very good as well, slightly too expansive and a bit formal but very good food.
