Citybox is a very basic & budget hotel in Bergen with a convenient location. I chose the hotel as it is very close to the train station (and bus station as well) since I had to leave early the next morning for the Norway in a Nutshell tour. It was easy to find. Walking to the harbour and Bryggen only... More

Dear Alex, I'm glad to hear that you enjoyed your stay with us at Citybox Bergen. It is true that some people have issues using the check in machine. Dear Fomos, I'm sorry to hear that you weren't satisfied with your stay at Citybox Bergen. Norway is a very expensive country per general, and the hotels in Bergen are more expensive since it's a popular tourist town and there isn't enough hotel rooms to accommodate everyone. If you look at the prices of our hotel in comparison to the... More

Stayed here for one night during a backpack trip. It's easy to find & a short walk from the train station & self check-in is handy. The downstairs lobby area is more impressive than the rooms - it's clean & relatively modern with a kitchen & sitting area with a tv (although we couldn't figure out how to change the... More

Don't be fooled by the word hotel, this is far from it. In fact I would say more like an ill-equipped hostel would be a better description (in fact lonely Planet describes it as a hostel). Not like pictures at all. My double room was 2 bolted down separated single beds. No TV. Kitchen in room with no utensils or... More

Dear Kate, Citybox is located in quite an old building and having been up and running for many years, so we do in fact need renovation, and this begun in 2014 when we renovated majority of the rooms at our hotel as well as the outside facade, however our double rooms with shared bathrooms are yet to be renovated as... This hotel is very basic but does what it says on the tin! rooms were clean, shower great but there was a damp smell. Hotel is in a great location near the train station and very close to the centre and attractions. Overall not a bad choice for a short stay.

The hotel is situated close to the centre and most attractions are within walking distance. The room we stayed in was spacious and comfortable which really made our stay very enjoyable. The best part about this hotel is the helpful reception manager - Rosemary. She is very knowledgeable and provided us helpful insights and tips about Bergen and Oslo (we... More

4 of 5 stars Reviewed December 22, 2014

Stayed for four nights in December. This is a great place to stay on a budget and has a self-sufficient feel. Check in is by automated machine so late arrival is fine. Slight mix up over our room was resolved immediately and without hassle. Room was basic but filled our needs. Very spacious and a clean en suite with heated... More

5 of 5 stars Reviewed November 27, 2014

Stayed here in late November for 1 night. It's very close to the main station and to the city centre. When we arrived our chosen twin room wasn't available so the staff upgraded us to a family room straight away. The room was clean and comfortable, the heater was effective and the room had double blinds to ensure darkness. We... More
