This hotel is a good option for budget travellers. The rooms are pretty cheap (but in Norway, everything is extremely expensive anyways), they are very clean and well furnished. The common area beside the reception desk is pleasant. HOWEVER, their automatic check-in terminal system is absolutely horrible. During our whole 3-days stay, we were constently seeing people locked outside the... more

CityBox was exactly what we were looking for. I’m 29, and traveled with my parents who are in their sixties. CityBox was perfect, since we were on a tight budget. The rooms have simple beds, linens provided, and free wifi. The rooms were clean and bathrooms were newly renovated. If you're looking for a budget place to stay, this will... more

I'm currently sitting on my bed in Citybox, looking out over the concert hall. I arrived four days ago and so far, have had no trouble whatsoever with CItybox. Yes, it is basic and yes there are nicer places around to stay, but realistically, why would you pay for a fancier version of what you get here...especially in an expensive... more

The price is right at the City Box in costly Bergen. It is an interesting concept - check in at a computer terminal that issues your cardboard room key, with payment handled by the terminal. Someone is on duty during business hours if you have a problem. I booked a semi-private single, expecting the bathroom to be between and shared... more

Citybox is centrally located. It's close to both the main bus terminal where the airport bus goes, the city's main concert hall and good shopping and bars. For Bergen, it's also cheap. When my parents stayed there, they were satisfied. It's clean enough, but the sofa in my room had big stains and it was pretty dusty under the bed.... more

Had a nice stay at the Citybox for 2 very nice sunny days in Bergen. We were quite lucky with the weather. We stayed in Room 209 for 600 Nok per night. Ok the bad first: The water becomes cold in the shower!!! probably the *only* place in the entire Norway that we had this problem. The people at the... more

My boyfriend and I were on a tight budget during our trip to Bergen, so we stayed at the citybox for 2 nights in a double room, no bathroom. It was just what we needed! The rooms had clean floors, a great open window with a nice view of a courtyard outside, ikea matresses on the beds, ikea desk with... more

Bergen is the most expensive city i've ever been in, so paying 500 NOK a night was a relief. Citybox is in a very convenient location, just a 10 minute walk from the train/bus station. We made it there easily in the dark in the rain having never been there before. There is a self check-in terminal once you get... more

Booked a Thurs and Monday night via the hotel's web site. Original booking was for double with shared facilities but then en-suite became available so amended booking. Seems their reservation system couldn't cope. Check in is via self-service terminal in lobby. Luckily reception was staffed and very helpful in resolving problem. On 2nd check following Monday, all went as expected.... more

There is a reason that Citybox is able to charge 600 NOK for a private room with Bathroom in a city where that price could easily be double or triple. Citybox provides a barebones of services and provides very basic ammenities. They do it without sacrficing cleanliness etc though. I personally would take that and use the 50 pounds/100 USD... more
