Enjoyable one night stay with good breakfast. We had a standard double room on the 4th floor which was in the attic. I think some rooms in this hotel probably deserve 5 stars. We were a little disappointed that the 'double' bed we booked was made up of 2 singles, but that seems to be common in Norway, as 3... More

We stayed here for 4 nights in August 2014 and enjoyed our experience. The hotel is centrally located right on the wharf next to the central part of town. Most major attractions, including the funicular and hiking trails, are within a short walk. The room have great charm, as this is a historic building, and are all different. The bathrooms... More

This truly is a gem. In a wonderful historical location, just a quick walk from all the major sights, the Hanseatic combines features from the early 1700s (when the hotel was rebuilt after a fire), with lovely modern bathrooms. The rooms are a nice size, and the staff was very friendly and helpful. We will surely return!

I do actually just want to describe this hotel with one word, style. It got style. This is by far my new favourite hotel. You are literally surrounded by history. The style they've kept or used is fantastic. Some of the walls were massive wood with fitting furniture. Wallpaper covering the other walls had prints of a nice pattern which... More

The hotel is presented in keeping with the wooden UNESCO buildings in the street, with wooden features and tasteful decor. The room was sizeable, as was the self-service breakfast. For those who don't know Bergen, the city takes about 15 mins to walk edge to edge so everything is close, but the this hotel is particularly convenient for the mountain,... More

I found it! I located the hidden jewel in the midst of the tourist attraction "Vaagen" in Bergen. This hotel answered to all of our requests. The room (superior) was spacy, airy and furnitured with old dark wooden chairs, sofa, tables, closet. The bed was a dream as soft as our own dreams. The bath? Fantastic! Two sinks! Separate bathtub... More

This was my third stay in the Hotel, it's very well appointed in a beautiful historical building, it is right in the centre of Bergen near the fish market. I can't fault the hotel, their comfortable beds and amazing bathrooms. I have read number of reviews about noise but in all my stays I have not heard any disturbance or... More

i'll start by saying the hotel is so charming and renovated so well with just the right amount of creaks, uneven floors and worn areas mixed with elegant touches like chandeliers. i carefully read hotel reviews before booking here and also contacted the hotel ahead of time so was prepared for some of the challenges. the bed was comfy, and... Very charming hotel with a historic background. I really looked forward to stay here and was not disappointed. Charming room with good quality on amenities. Location in Bergen is extremely central. If you are a Norway tourist you should consider yourself lucky to stay here. It is part of the historical area with a lot of central history within walking... More

we stayed at this hotel due to being recommended to be one of the best in Bergen. It is a quirky hotel with the wooden timbers and uneven wood floors. On arrival the receptionist was friendly, unfortunately this did not last long, the other staff were uninterested and bordering on the very rude. we were in room 222 which faces... More
