Right in the midst of the action. The room was all we expected. The free-standing tub was a treat. View from the window not desirable and the ear plugs provided were a concern but noise didn't seem to be a problem without them anyway. The room could have done with a bottle opener for the beers, otherwise use the huge... More

Characteristic hotel on a great location in Bergen. Breakfast is the best in town. Helpfull receptionist and clean and comfortable rooms (might get a little bit warm but you can open the windows). The building is historical and that makes this hotel unique.

This centrally located hotel has been sympathetically developed within two of the original wooden buildings in old Bergen. We found ourselves in an attic room with beautiful fittings and a modern shower room. It was very comfortable and very clean. Although located by the harbour in the old town, there was no problem with street noise below. Breakfast was buffet-style,... More

Ideally located on Bryggen, it is a great location to start exploring Bergen. Don't get put off by the local mired service, small elevators and not charming lobby and entrance, the rooms are well appointed and location unparalleled. Ask for rooms in the new section or prepare to walk on uneven floors.

Although this hotel may be considered to be expensive, good prices can be secured by booking in advance -- and it's important to remember that all prices are relatively high in most Scandinavian countries. The hotel is, in effect, an extension of the building that houses the Hanseatic Museum, and so it is just a half block behind the Bryggen... More

Staying in the Hanseatic Hotel is an experience back in history. The hotel exterior was maintained same as when it was built centuries passed. However the interior had been renovated with modern facilities. The only short fall was the lack of elevator service to part of the upper floor rooms. The room was comfortable however to the small in size.... More

It is an expensive hotel (though we got a good price by booking 12 hours before arrival on a different site) but it is really beautiful, the rooms are lovely and comfortable with a real sense of history and great combination of old and new. The hotel is really unusual in its layout and internal glass corridors and roof which... More

The lay-out of our junior suite was nice, though the combed ceiling could be a challenge for anyone over six feet tall! The bathroom had a separate bath and a decent shower, but there was a rather unpleasant musty smell. The bed was comfortable and, while the furniture was in keeping with the style of an old building, it did... More

We stayed at the Hanseatic Hotel because we were traveling with our 11 month old son and wanted to be close to sightseeing for naps, etc. It was a more expensive hotel than some of the other ones we stayed in but soooooo worth it. The staff was wonderful, the room was huge. The bathroom had a big claw tub... More

We would give this hotel 3.5 stars. After hours debating whether we should stay at the Clarion or The Hanseatic Hotel in Bergen for three nights, my husband and I chose to stay at the latter because the rooms appeared to have more character and the hotel was located in a historic building (both hotels have excellent locations). And we... More
