It is an expensive hotel (though we got a good price by booking 12 hours before arrival on a different site) but it is really beautiful, the rooms are lovely and comfortable with a real sense of history and great combination of old and new. The hotel is really unusual in its layout and internal glass corridors and roof which... More

The lay-out of our junior suite was nice, though the combed ceiling could be a challenge for anyone over six feet tall! The bathroom had a separate bath and a decent shower, but there was a rather unpleasant musty smell. The bed was comfortable and, while the furniture was in keeping with the style of an old building, it did... More

We stayed at the Hanseatic Hotel because we were traveling with our 11 month old son and wanted to be close to sightseeing for naps, etc. It was a more expensive hotel than some of the other ones we stayed in but soooooo worth it. The staff was wonderful, the room was huge. The bathroom had a big claw tub... More

We would give this hotel 3.5 stars. After hours debating whether we should stay at the Clarion or The Hanseatic Hotel in Bergen for three nights, my husband and I chose to stay at the latter because the rooms appeared to have more character and the hotel was located in a historic building (both hotels have excellent locations). And we... More

We stayed at the Hanseatic for 2 nights in last May (2015). Definitely A very good choice, and our selection for the next time in Bergen. Location is ideal – 10 min. walk from the central train station (for those who take the formidable Oslo-Bergen trip), and only few steps from the main attractions of the city: The funicular, the... We arrived in BGO and took the express bus to Bergen, getting off at the Fish Market stop. We told the bus driver the name of the hotel and he pointed us in the proper direction. The hotel was located just two blocks away, next to the Hanseatic museum. Arriving at the hotel about 1000, we were greeted enthusiastically by... More

From the outside, it does not look much. The reception area does not add much to the first impression either. The rooms, however, are large and comfortable, with modern bathrooms and good beds. Free wifi with OK speed and coverage. Very close to Bergen harbour (tourist area of town).

There really isn't much that you can complain about with the Hanseatic Hotel. The location can't be beat as it's literally steps away from Bryggen, the fish market, and the airport shuttle stops. The hotel itself has a ton of charm and the rooms were actually the largest rooms that we had while in Norway. The bathroom would compare well... More

This is a very good hotel, loved the history and you can't get much closer to the funicular and Bryggen. We stayed in one of the suites which was well appointed with a good blend of modern and historic. The breakfast was okay. We enjoyed our stay, but it didn't have the wow factor that would make us come back... More

Stayed here two nights after transferring from Oslo via the Norway in a Nutshell tour. I had reserved a twin room which was not quite adequate space wise for our needs, the hotel graciously moved us to a nicer superior room t no charge, for which we were thankful. The building is historic with unlevel and creaky floors, which for... More
