Det Hanseatiske is a lovely, charming hotel with all the modern amenities. The layout of the entire hotel awoke my sense of exploration. There are lots off odd angles and short halways to wander about. The staff was kind and helpful. Our room was at the top with a slanted roof and beams crossing, so you must be careful to... more

The bottom line: I thought it was overpriced for what it was. Positives: Great Location - in center of town Nice rooms - even our attic-type room was pleasant. Mixed: The first day breakfast was excellent and varied. The second day, the breakfast choices were spartan. 2/3 of the personnel did not give correct information and seemingly didn't care. One... more

Very nice hotel, but a little too expensive. The room is excellent and the bathroom too, but it is a little noisy (due to its excellent position overlooking the fish market, harbour and town centre). Very nice and helpful staff. No sauna-we were disappointed. And breakfast is a little below the Norwegian average. more

We agree with many of the comments made by other reviewers - on both sides of the scale. It does have history, charm, and potential; most of the negatives would be easy to rectify (e.g. the breakfast). What we did not see mentioned in any of those reviews, however, was the downside of its central location - NOISE!!! The street... more

A great hotel full of charm and atmosphere. Its location is second to none, being just off the Bryggen harbour. The acclaimed fish market is directly across the road, a short stroll from the hotel entrance. I hadn't realised just how lively Bergen is. We arrived at 11.30pm on a Tuesday night to find the Bryggen in full swing and... more

Hi! I have just stayed at this hotel for one night. The room (nr. 40) is in the top floor. Very small room, but still very cozy. I really like the atmosphere in this hotel. What I really like is that this is a truly unique hotel with a great location. What I don't like are: Breakfast - very very... more

We stayed at the hotel twice, before and after taking Hurtigruten. As you have read in other reviews the location is excellent. And it is so very clever how they have fit a hotel into a historic building. Our room was spacious, and we enjoyed the heated bathroom floor. Breakfast was adequate but not overwhelming. We found the front desk... more

I have stayed in Bergen before and usually opted for a chain hotel in the same area of Bergen as the Hanseatic. I found this hotel on Expedia at a cheaper rate and decided to give it a go. The hotel is about 15minutes walk from the bus station. An ideal location close to the harbourfront and a popular cable... more

I was really looking forward to staying at Det Hanseatiske. Upon doing my research and reading the reviews, it certainly appeared to be a well-located and unique property and thought it would be an ideal place for my two nights in Bergen. The thought of staying in a property located in a 18th century building as opposed to a cookie-cutter... more
