We chose this hotel from the trip advisor review and we're so very glad we did, it was brilliant. The hotel is set in a listed building an old Hanseatic warehouse and is beautiful, quirky and very interesting. The rooms are spacious, comfortable and very well appointed. Staff are very friendly, professional and helpful. This was the only hotel during... More

This historic hotel was outstanding in all regards. The updated to a fully modern hotel is incredibly well done. The location, right on the wharf, can't be beat. The room was incredible, spacious and very cool. The breakfast was great. Highly recommended.

Comfortable well located hotel supported by great accommodating staff going out of their way to be helpful. Stayed in a deluxe room facing the street -yes it is very noisy on weekend nights but we preferred this the deluxe room we were first offered at the back of the hotel that faced a brick wall, was close to the restaurant... A very comfortable hotel although a bit of a rabbit warren. It is clear there are good and bad rooms.Ours was almost in attic - very clean, quiet and comfortable a little on small size. No views. Some clearly face on to street -with attendant noise.Sloping roof was interesting but not a real problem. You had to wind your way... More

We were proposed this hotel by our business hosts, and they could not have proposed a better hotel. I've stayed in at least 3 other hotels close by, and this one is my favorite. It is small - almost a boutique hotel - but very cozy. The building must be 100's of years old, and the hotel got it right... More

First of all I should point out that I really enjoyed my stay here......but as some constructive criticism for the managers, we were put in room 222, which has basically, no privacy. There are curtains on the windows, but no sheers, meaning that when you open the curtains in the morning, everyone in Starbucks is looking straight at you. Even... More

We Cchose this hotel based on reviews here but personally and realistically its not a value for money hotel. Room given to us was very, very small and near the road. Noises of traffic outside kept us awake almost all night. When I finally fell asleep, a truck starts collecting stuff from the shop across the road at 7 with... More

We had 2 great nights staying here at the end of Jan, we had booked it on the strength of reviews on TA and we were not disappointed at all. The welcome when we arrived was really warm and friendly and both rooms were ready. We were travelling with friends and we had both booked deluxe rooms 336 (ours) 334... More

Stayed for 1 night on a business trip. The hotel is in a historic building which has been converted for the purpose and could best be described a boutique hotel. The staff are friendly and the facilities or what I saw of them seemed to be good. It is centrally located and would be good for a social visit to... More

Official Description (provided by the hotel):
A stay at the Hanseatic Hotel is a very special experience. We have invested all our expertise and passion into creating this high quality hotel, situated at Bryggen in Bergen. With its location at the very heart of historic Bergen, the hotel is ideally placed, whether you are travelling on business or pleasure. The Hanseatic Hotel is not your 'standard' hotel. The hotel has been built on historic ground within the Finnegaarden Trading House at Bryggen, which is inscribed on Unesco's list of World Heritage Sites. We have retained the wharf style and architecture, and the old timber walls have been preserved in several places.Every room is uniqe! We can offer 37 characterful double rooms featuring exclusive furniture and unique bathrooms, creating an interior that is redolent of the time when Bryggen was a Hanseatic port. The Hanseatic Hotel will appeal to those looking for more than a standard A4 hotel, and who wish to spoil themselves in attractive and charming surroundings. As the city's most outstanding hotel and restaurant complex, we want our guests' stay to be memorable and can offer delicious culinary treats that will appeal to every taste. We have several restaurants serving exquisite traditional and international cuisine, a cosy lobby bar, in addition to excellent conference facilities and free WiFi.Our hotel and restaurants, as well as our conference facilities, with their unique character and central location, make for an out-of-the-ordinary experience. We can organise every type of privatefunction, from weddings to confirmations and Christmas buffets. A short distance from the hotel is the famous Fish Market (Fisketorget), where seafood connoisseurs mingle. Another popular tourist attraction is the Fløibanen Funicular. The airport bus and the railway station are just a short distance away.Welcome to a memorable hotel and culinary experience! ... more   less
