Stayed here while on a business trip. Initial impression was good, lovely reception area and rooms. As others have said, rooms seem to be a little small but well furnished and comfortable. Mine overlooked the offices at the back...not a problem for me as I don't spend all my time looking out of the window. TV channels limited, but much... more

Yes, Norway is expensive. But, if you've decided to bite the bullet and go, I can recommend this hotel. it's located on the harbor just a few steps away from the tenement (painted) houses and shops. It is easy to get to and find from the boats as we came from Balestrand. We really did not book this hotel for... more

We stayed in the hotel for 3 nights and paid approximately $600 a night for a very small room with a window looking out over the harbor. However, as noted before, the window was so small that you could not enjoy the view. When we arrived around 10 PM, we learned that there was only 1 employee in the hotel... more

It is one of the most expansive hotels in Bergen, but some points are disappointing: the size of the room (even a deluxe one), the lack of light, the service (no help for your luggage, poor room service), the breakfast. On the other hand, the location is great, but it is clearly not worth the price. more

Norway is expensive. But even at the deeply discounted rate of NOK 2,695 (USD 500.00) let alone the standard rack rate of NOK 15,000 (yes, USD 2790.00 - and no, there is no mistake on the zeroes) one would reasonably expect much more than the small attic corner that passes for a 'suite' at this hotel. No bath. Just a... more

We stayed in this hotel for 8 nights. It is in a great location, very central for attractions such as the market, the funicular, and the harbour itself is constantly interesting. Some negatives and positives - it's very modern, and we thought the foyer and restaurant areas rather lacking in any atmosphere. The older parts of the building are fascinating,... more

Well ahead of time, I e-mailed the hotel to request a harbour view room as this was a silver wedding holiday...and that's just what we got at no extra charge. Great start to a 5 destination trip. We loved the style of this hotel...it's very cool/ stylish/modern...yet is in a fantastic old building. The building has been transformed in a... more

Norway is one of the most expensive countries we have visited, and Bergen is no exception. While the Havnekontoret is expensive, it becomes a great value because of location and meals. Our rooms included a good breakfast buffet, waffles in the afternoon, and a full dinner buffet each evening. A relatively new hotel, the rooms were clean, the beds were... more

An unusual review this, as we like this place so much we wanted to review it while still here. And so I write this, sitting in a window seat in room 504, on my iPod Touch, using the hotel's free Wi-fi. This place is so effortlessly good. If you've been to a British Malmaison, then you have the idea.... though... more
