This hostel was cheap and conveniently located, but that's about it. Even felt expensive for the quality of the hostel. It was unclean, staff weren't very approachable and there was nowhere to securely store our belongings. We stayed in a 32 bed dorm - considering there are so many strangers all sleeping in one room we thought there should be... More

Though Bergen is a beautiful place to visit, the problem is that it is terribly expensive, almost twice the cost of other places in Europe. The only option is the Bergen YMCA, which provides very affordable (by Norwegian standards) accomodaton. Located right in the heart of Bergen, it is also right beside the Airport Bus stop. Extremely convenient and highly... More

First, you can't beat the location and price. Bergen is an expensive city, this is a cheap accommodation, and you get what you pay for. We stayed in a 6 bedded private room and had the entire room reserved. First, the "fridge in the room" promised did not work. We could never figure out why. There is a communal fridge... More

Four of us stayed in the hostel very near the waterfront. The hostel actually starts on the second floor of the building but there is an elevator available. The desk staff are very friendly and helpful and also speak English. The room was small but very clean and we had our own bathroom and shower. There is a kitchen available... More

YMCA Bergen Hostel has it all.....!! Great location, nice staff, comfy beds and is a well organised business. For a very small amount per night in the dormitories. Absolutely recommendable. Will soon come again :-)

The hostel is exactly what an hostel should be. Simple, not expensive, facilities for travellers (free kitchen, lockers, wi-fi, common spaces for encountering other guests), very well located in the center of Bergen. Very good option for budget travellers wanting to share with others.

“You gain strength, courage and confidence by every experience in which you really stop to look fear in the face. You are able to say to yourself, 'I have lived through this horror. I can take the next thing that comes along.' You must do the thing you think you cannot do." They had me in their biggest dorm holding... More

The location of the hostel is very central. Just next to the Fish Market and other touristic attractions, restaurants, bars...It is a 10 minute walk from the train station. The dormitories are clean and big enough to feel comfortable with people you don't know. The beds are good. If you are a group you can even book a 4 or... More

I stayed here in a 4 bed dorm for two nights in March. The room itself was a fine. There was two bunk beds, a small table and a chair and also a small sink and a cooking hob which didn't work. The bathroom was small but ok. The room and bathroom seemed clean enough. The bed sheets are left... More

I stayed for three nights in this hostel, the location is fabulous with it being in walking distance to everything you might want to see. The staff throughout my stay were helpful and friendly although I found the restricted reception hours a pain, my key card stopped working and I had to call for someone to come fix it. The... More
